International Cricket 2010 Impressions Thread

I concur. Hud off was harder than a hard thing, Hud minimal led to a few boundaries and even a 6. I can't think what could be done, maybe the pitch point marker flashes for a sec then goes? Dunno. It's a conundrum.

I haven't received the game yet, but I have a thought on a challenging (but not impossible) HUD system. Perhaps only a single dot appears on the pitch. It occurs 2 seconds before the ball is delivered, and it lasts for 1 second in duration. That way, you are not over-informed about ball direction, swing ect, but you are provided with just a hint of pitch location. Is this what you were saying, Wee? Have I just gone and plagiarised your post?

Great mate, i like it. Also don't have the game. trying to mate but its hurting a little.:banana2

Yep, great idea. The only modification to that would be that when the dot disappears it slows in movement. In that way the dot could've moved somewhat, maybe even a moderate amount, but the bowler won't get away with slamming it into somewhere miles away from where that dot last was.

I was thinking this possibly, although I like the pop up idea.

You have a slider, in options, which you can use to vary the amount of time the marker appears for. At one end of the slider would be the whole run up. At the other end, basically Hud off. You could have separate sliders for batting and bowling.

Ive got to say that no hud is to hard. If i played this way for ages and got used to it im sure i would get better. But to be honest if i did this and got smashed about everywhere getting no ball after no ball. And getting out for 100. I dont think ide like the game anymore. So ive settled for minimal and have been enjoying it. I had a great test on hard that lasted 4 and a half days. I was pakistan vs india. I was 411 all out in 1st and they replied with 330. I then rubishly got 117. And then they won getting 199/3. Sure i lost but im not fussed about than
t in the slightest. Games are about enjoyment to me. And thats what i got out of it.
I wonder if anyone agrees with me on this next point, but i think this game is more or less there with gameplay. So if another game is released next summer, i would like think that most of the work will go on cosmetics and little details.
Stat-tracking. Rain delays. Field settings. Maybe a few more things being said from commentary. Anyone think as me on that?

How is everyone getting on with the batting side of the game, I am really struggling can't seem to make any decent scores. Tried playing players in but as soon as I go for any type of attacking shot I get myself out. Any advice would be appreciated as some of you guys seem to be getting decent scores.

I can't say for sure as I haven't received my copy yet, but going by what others are saying you sound spot on. Your test match scores are also very encouraging, I hope I can have some close test matches going into the 4th and 5th days.

What are settings are you playing on?

I am playing on hard with the HUD on. I don't want to go to Normal because I have got the bowling side of this game sussed so on nomral I can bowl out sides for low totals.

Well early on use defensive strokes towards cover or midwicket to run easy singles. Then when you go for an attacking shot don't go all out. Use the power stick to ease it past the fielder.

I have to say playing HUD off makes you really respect some basic test match principles. Just saw the hawkeye for one of my innings, every run scoring shot was in the V

Well I've played one 20-20 over game so far, had the game since yesterday morning. Finding Fifa 2010 world cup rather addictive atm so international cricket just isn't getting much of a look in.

The game feels like a patched version of Ashes Cricket 09 to me. However, it still seems fairly decent and has improved on some of the problems of the previous version.

The Action cam is a nice idea, and does add something to the game. The AI does seem better, and batting seems really hard. Even with perfect timing on my ground strokes the ball was only going for 3 runs, and this was all with the batting HUD on. :p

I bowled first and Autralia made 158/6 roughly. They were around 70/0 at one point.

I made around 128 all out in reply, as i just needed too many runs off the final few overs. Really had a problem with scoring runs. I found it easier to play lofted shots than ground strokes. Hopefully i will be able to score some boundaries without using the lofted shot as i adapt to the game.

To be honest i was expecting more, but i won't bash the game until i have played some more. :)

Thanks, will try that later today.

online batting too easy?

i think batting online was too easy. everything's going for a four or six. anyone else think so?

i dont remember ac 09 being this easy to bat online...

Batting against fast bowling isn't too difficult, I'm clueless against spin though.
