Pakistan 'A' impressed pickingup wickets in vital times, however two of their best bowlers were underbowled with Mahmood and Mushtaq bowling just 2 overs each despite them both taking wickets. However when they had the ball thye made it count with Saqlain removing Maunders when he Yorked himself.
Pakistan 'A' have got a tough task ahead and leicestershire will defienty fancy their chances here.

Pakistan 'A' reuqire 160runs at 8 R.P.O

Pakistan 'A' have stumbled to 68 for 3 after some tight bowling from Leicestershire. Pakistan 'A' have failed to take on the runrate of 8 runs per over meaning that the next 10 overs are going to be extremely tough. Leicestershire have bolwed exremely well with South African overseas Langeveldt taking two wickets and Englands broad one.

Mohammad hafeez and Yasir Ahmeed have steadied the pakistan 'A' ship wth Hafeez making 29 from just 22 balls. Imran Nazir was the first wicket to fall after he tried to drive a Broad yorker resulting in his off stumps rocking back. Following this Langeveldt picked up a wicket LBW after bowling a series of bouncers followed by a full slower ball which left Farhat stuck LBW. The third wicket down was a catch of a top edge hook which was taking by Kruger who spilt a chance in the first over at the same position.

Pakistan 'A' reuqire 93 runs at 9.3 R.P.O

Great wicket by Broad! This should be a win for Leicester from here but Akmal that far down could be crucial. This story is great :D

Leicestershire began there tour with a win after bowling Pakistan 'A' allout with just 7 balls remaining. Requiring 93 from the last ten was a gettable target but Pakistan 'A' found it tough with key wickets falling.

Hameed failed to really get going and eventually fell sweeping a Snape arm ball which resulted in a high catch to mid wicket. Following this Hafeez fell depsite reaching 50 he still struggled to take on the spinners falling to henderson after hitting him straight down the long offs throat. Asim Kamal and Azhar Mahmood threatened with some big shots but when Mahmood fell to henderson it became a big task. However, Kamal and Akmal were stilled at the crease and 4 overs remained with 38 runs to win. With Snape expensive and Broad and Langeveldt with just 1 over left it meant there was a difficult choice to make. Eventually Kruger got the ball depsite having a fairly poor day with dropping a catch and bowling 1 over for 12. However he pulled through claiming two big wickets caught hooking leaving Broad to finish up and win the game.

Leicestershire win by 12 runs with 7 balls remaining
Man of the Match- Langeveldt 3-14

Post Match:

Great Twenty20 game which was won by the allround better Team. Leicestershire Captain explained how " alot of us here havent played against these guys and we didnt really have a bowling plan. We just decided that if we bowled straight, mixed it up and kept the batsmen guessing that wickets would come. But this is twenty20 and this kind of plan will need to be developed for the 4 dayers and one dayers so looking into key players weaknesses and strenghs will need to be done."

Pakistan 'A' captain Saqlain Mustaq accepted that his team could have done better as he explained how "We collectively have played very little twenty20 cricket but there were times chasing when out run rate was higher than needed and we were sailing along. Even at the end requiring 30 to win with 3 wickets, we had a good oppertunities but we played big shots when there where singles available so we need to improve in this area."

Well One game down in this pre season tour can Leicestershire continue to good run of form?

Pre Match Team talk
One Day Match (50-over Match)
03-03-2007
National Stadium, Karachi, Pakistan
Umpires: Raweed Khan & Zaheer Ahmed

After the twenty20 win the day before, Leicestershire captain Jeremy Snape and the managment identified the need for in depth research into the opposition tactics, strenghs and weaknesses.

Pakistan 'A' Batting tactics
Working on the basis that Pakistan 'A' field an unchanged squad it is obvious there batting is very aggressive.

Targeting specific bastmen will put pressure on less established and aggressive players.

Batting Targets:

Imran Nazir (Opening Bat)
Strengths: Cover Drive, Sqaure Cut, Hook.
Weaknesses: Hook shot
Plan: S Broad, Straight Full bowling with two men on the hook. Dry up runs followed by short straight bowling trying to induce the hook shot.

Imran Farhat (Opening Bat)
Strenghs: On Drive, Sweep.
Weaknesses: Unknown
Plan: Any pace bowler. Out side off stump, nothing Straight.

Hasan Raza (Top order)
Strengths: Cover Drive, Straight Drive, Square Cut.
Weaknesses: Unknown
Plan: S Broad/Kruger bowling back of a lenght straight.

Mohammad Hefeez (Top order)
Strengths: Straight Drive, On Drive.
Weaknesses: Unknown.
Plan: Any pace bowler. Out side off stumps, nothing straight.

Yasir hameed (Middle order)
Strengths: Back foot, glance and On Drive.
Weaknesses: Out Side Off-stump.
Plan: Langeveldt Bowling full out side off stump. Nothing Short.

Asim Kamal (Middle Order)
Strengths: Glance of Hips, Pull.
Weaknesses: Out side Off-stump.
Plan: Langeveldt Bowling full out side off stump. Nothing Short.

Batting Plan- leicestershire
D Robinson To open with Ackerman.

Ackerman Bat aggressively to establish high runrate. If this cannot be achieved look to build partnership and accelerate later on in the innings.

D Robinson to bat through. If dismissed next establish batsmen to do the same. If two new batsmen at the crease look to build Partnership and accelerate at end of innings.

P Nixon preferably to bat in last 10 overs for acceleration. Snape and Sadler to do the same.

well Leicestershire have got there plan but will it work and who will win this game. Find out soon.
