March 12 : India vs South Africa

Leave it! I feel either of Gambhir or Kohli should make way for Raina. I have not been happy with Gambhir's batting this tournament. He has looked so rusty in every game he has batted. And today he frustrated the hell out of many people by batting like that. I would blame Yuvraj, Yusuf, Dhoni and Kohli too. But I am blaming Gambhir big because he could have avoided it and in a way, he kind of triggered it.

Good wicket that of Smith!!! Was worried that they had started opening up. Like the commitment from our fielders today. Looks like they're charged up. We are bowling OK so far.

that Tendulkar-Gambhir partnership struggled to accelerate and that led us to a major breakdown in momentum and eventually cost us the wickets. No matter what people try to prove otherwise.

you can say that they pushed india 20,30 runs back but it doesn't allow others to go wildly

It was just they tried to hit each and every ball. Always a danger when you do that. No one tried to play proper cricket shots and score runs.

Just got back from work & catching up on the action right now. Well if India did try to hit everything to the fence after Sachin/Gautam departed what happened to them must be similar to the IRE game when the openers departed & Yusuf & Co. wanted everything out of the ground whether it was in the slot or not.

Wondering why the team think tank wanted the middle order to go bonkers like that.

good to see the match is turning again towards india.i hope they'll keep this pressure by picking up these wickets in quick sessions

India's fielding is showing marked improvement today. Really liking the commitment from our boys. It looks like we might prise out a wicket pretty soon if we field like that.

Lets see if the spinners can prise out wickets. Wont mind Harbhajan bowling another economical spell in this game (even if its without wickets). His tight bowling will add pressure (which is already started building)

No, he has to take wickets if he has to be economical. He has to be used as a wicket taker and not a run blocker.

While chasing such a huge total economy is everything. You build pressure on the batting side & wickets will eventually fall.

How you build pressure? If you take wickets, pressure builds. Taking wickets will only put pressure.

Wickets are important. We can't expect SA to choke everytime. If they have wickets and 90 to chase in last 10 they would still be ahead. Its spinning and bouncing for Pathan, so it would suit Harbhajan too. We shouldn't let these 2 settle down.

What will put more pressure?
-giving away 70-80 odd runs and picking up 2-3 wickets or
-giving away 30-40 runs remaining wicketless

Eventually those 40 runs makes a lot of difference and will automatically put pressure on the opposition.;)
