Mistake buying console version, lesson learned

I bought the PS3 version of DBC a long time back. I then waited patiently for patch 3 last year as it promised a lot of improvements especially to the AI batting, which frankly is sub-standard in the short formats (even on legend difficulty, after patch 2).

(As a side note, I read several posts from folk who let's be honest, clearly pirated the PC version -- depressing to see this happen)

Anyway tired of waiting for patch 3, I stopped coming to the forum. Coming back almost a year later, I find that Patch 3 is still not out for the console, yet v1.xxx is still being released for the PC guys.

Lesson learned. NEVER BUY the console version from this company as they clearly value PC development more. Maybe they have a valid argument that console patches cost $$$ and they don't want to keep releasing updates. If so, all the more reason to stay away from the console version.

Sad to see that guys who illegally download the PC game get a better version than people who pay for the console product.

Patience is a rare gift these days.

You're underestimating the importance of PC in relation to developing and refining the content for the console updates. The 'quick' PC updates mean the team can get immediate feedback and implement changes, which is ultimately for the good of the console updates. Remember, this is Big Ant. They don't have the resources to be pushing console update after console update every few weeks.

Pirates don't have access to the latest updates either.

You need to understand Bigants are doing their best to give all their support for a year old game. Have patience and appreciate their effort. You will get it.

People bought the console versions of Don Bradman expecting a patch 3, and more specifically for me, a co-op mode. To still ask people to be patient more than a year later with still no patch 3 when they're pointing out genuine grievances is crazy .

To the OP, I share your sentiments. We've well and truly got the short end of the stick.

Console users have already had more patches than any Cricket game in history.

Anyone that has an illegal copy is not getting updates.

Would you rather that we shipped a buggy patch for you? That would be crazy, you guys would be the first and LOUDEST whingers.

PS: PC had to wait two months for release after Console... but don't let the facts get in the way of a whinge.

Will the two month delay for PC be the norm for future BigAnt releases Ross? Need to know if I need to dust off the PS4 for the next cricket and league games.

League isn't our game so I don't have control over that, I'd expect a delay between versions for that though.

On our own games, Cricket, Lacrosse, etc. given the protection systems seem to have kept the pirates at bay then we are likely to synchronise the release.

Thanks Ross, much appreciated.

Can't believe I forgot about Lacrosse, have a feeling that's going to be a very cool game!

Patch 1.5+ for the PC does nothing to address the AI batting situation and the lack of difference between a conservative tailender and a brute opener.. So don't fear, the PC world are not far ahead in that regard. I purchased both console and Steam version, and play neither.

To be fair the previous record was something of the order of 1 patch.

Big Ant are in a tough position for such development, but have done extremely well. Patience is all that is needed at this point, and ultimately I'm sure if it were feasible they'd be getting the patches out to the console users as soon as the PC users, but due to the way that those platforms work it simply isn't possible.

I don't think a console cricket game has *ever* had a patch, and PC ones have only ever seen EA's patch, which didn't actually patch anything meaningful.
