Thanks to Durant of course. Love the kid. The Turkish crowd was so awesome. Bring home the gold after 16 years boys! :D

I saw every single home game Durant played for Texas in his one season here. It was easy to see how much of a legend he will be one day. If the college rule was not in place, he would never even have come to Texas and gone the way of LeBron

Yeah love the college rule. Should be two years though IMO.

I'm really starting to become a KD fan. His on court persona is so cool and calm regardless of how the day is going, he's a fighter, and oh so modest. Following the hoopla with the big three that signed with Miami, he quietly signed an extension with OKC and people barely even noticed. Now when people were calling him the face of USA basketball he made it about the team and passed the ball as much as possible and then played big when we needed it.

In guys like Durant and Rose, we have a new breed of basketball players who know they're awesome but despite that learn how to act like human beings on and off the court.

It should deffo be 2 years.

- and yes that has always been the problem with Team USA basketball. They are all superstars and its the "me" show for all players. The only exception I can think of is the Dream Team 92, when they actually played for the game and country.

This problem stems from the general set up of American sports though. There is no room for loyalty, honor or allegiances. Its whoever pays you more.

This is why the IPL/Champions League/ Strong domestic 2020 setups scare me. International Cricket is the only sport I know of where people still play for the love of country. The national game is the most important one and not the domestic game. Its not about how many superstars are on each team, its about winning the game for the team........... at least it still is for now

Kirk Penney given another chance to crack an NBA side, this time with the Spurs. Hope he makes it, even if it does take the best player out of the NBL and more importantly my Breakers.

Just a training invite. He's a had a couple of stints with different teams a while ago but never really came to anything. I'd say he's improved as he's aged though, he has the goods but NBA is a hell of step up from NBL so I don't expect him to get a spot on their roster.

I'm surprised Abercrombie never received such an invite tbh. I get that his college career here was horrible to say the least, but he seems to have improved quite a bit. How well does he play in the Aussie league? Was his FIBA performance a one off event?

Abercrombie has been improving so much lately. It was noticeable when Kirk Penney got injured for a long time last season and Abercrombie went from a bench player who had limited minutes to one of the Breakers key weapons. Last season was a really good one for him and going by his FIBA performances he's still improving and adding to his game. Before half way through last season he wasn't much of a threat from distance but he seems to be able to do anything now. Good prospect and his hops are the same height as Michael Jordans were :D

Slightly OT but can't wait for NBA 2K11 to come out. Just about a week left. I've had it pre-ordered for a month now.

Too bad the season is still a month away.

I'm just having too much fun on 2K10 My Player mode (despite the bugs) to get into any other game, but I'll most definitely buy the new version soon.

I saw you mention in the Live thread it was your favorite basketball game Sohum, have you played the My Player mode? If so, what's your story man?

I played My Player for a bit but the beginning has always been too difficult for me. The first time I went in there fresh as a PG and couldn't make the cut for a training camp. I ended up playing D-League a few months (in game-time) before giving up on that character.

Next time around I once again did not qualify for training camp but in D-League, this time I bumped my stats way up so that I could get an offer from an NBA team. This time I ended up playing in the D-League almost two complete seasons before giving up.

The third time I bumped my stats up a bit (about 5 points on each category) and managed to make it through training camp and get on the Rockets. Played like 2 games off the bench before replacing Aaron Brooks as the starting PG. :p Played about half a season before starting and getting addicted to association mode. So right now I'm playing Association with the Rockets in the 2012-2013 season.

Only thing I don't like about it is going from Pro difficulty to Superstar is pretty crazy. With Pro I end up beating teams by 35-40 points whereas in Superstar I end up losing by about 15 every time. I've basically been playing 2 quarters in each difficult to even it out.

I've heard PG's are very tough to play in that mode unless you're cheesing it. I only played association mode for a bit before getting sucked in by My Player. I actually sold the game eventually due to the mode being incredibly buggy (after shelling out for Draft Combine) as I couldn't play for the Bulls no matter what I tried.

My bro-in-law gave me his copy a few months ago and I started over from Draft Combine as a 6'9" PF and averaged a double-double from pretty much the beginning. Got drafted rather high (R2:P6) by the Grizzlies, but didn't get an invite out of the summer league despite putting up good numbers. Ended up getting in with the Bulls instead (obv) and played well enough to get a chance in the NBA as Gibson's back up. Got my first start after 16 games, and eventually started getting so many minutes they traded Gibson away!

I finished the season just barely averaging a D-D and helped improve the team from playoff hopefuls to 3rd seed in the East (got ROTY as well). Got past the Wizards in the 1st round and swept the Heat in the 2nd, after which there was no way I wanted to give up, so I started cheesing it. :p We faced up against the Cavs in the conference finals and took the series after a ridiculous 7 games! All the games we lost were by something like 20 pts but won all four games by a bucket or two each. Beat the Thunder (lol) in 5 games to win the championship, I got finals MVP.

Following that performance, apparently the Bulls didn't want to offer me a new contract (:laugh) and went with Ben Wallace instead. I was told to pick one of Hawks, Nuggets, Lakers, and Nets. Naturally I picked the most exciting team that I actually like, the Nuggets, and started the next season placed in the starting line-up ahead of K-Mart.

It turned out to be a great decision as I love playing in that team much more than with the Bulls. In Chicago, I often had to take over the scoring load whether I wanted to or not since Rose is a pass-first PG and didn't want to take shots no matter how many times I'd set him up perfectly. With the Nuggz, I play my role and let Melo and JR do their thing, as a result I've really improved my numbers in a massive way and we're the best team in the league right now (rated 97 at the moment, with a record of 30-4 so far).

What's really great is that I was the perfect guy for that team. I love scrapping for rebounds unlike the rest of the team, and actually like playing D, as a result of which I'm the NBA leader in points (we pretty much share them between myself, Melo and JR), rebounds and now even blocks, and have had two triple-doubles so far this season. The Bulls on the other hand are at the bottom of the power rankings...
