Well 5 match ODI series are the definition of a waste of time. If we got rid of things like the Champions Trophy and pointless ODI series, we'd have hopefully avoided such ridiculous outcomes as Australia and South Africa drawing a test series 1-1 due to only 2 tests being scheduled.

So NZ are going for the wetwash?

I am all for 3-5 match Test series, 3 match ODIs and 1 T20 making up a tour.

Think NZ played Aus as well in a 2 test series that finished 1-1... was a low point for Test Cricket in the last 5 years I think.

NZ - SL was 1 all last year as well.

But in the space of about 3 months two consecutive tours finished 1-1 due to being two test series. Both were excellent series despite the length as well, both deserved a third test. Was fairly shameful.

Oh yes that was when Australia bowled South Africa out for 47.

You were right the first time Aus and NZ did indeed draw 1-1 straight after the Aus/Saf drawn series. We lost the second test by like 3 or 4 runs, our first test defeat against them in some 350 years.

Compton gone for a duck. I have to say that I tend to expect all tests in NZ to be on green tops with 300 a good score!

Pitch looks fine to bat on, but this is a very poor start by England. Absolutely nothing doing and they've given away two wickets.

I wouldn't be surprised if Bell and Prior get big scores here. Possibly Trott as well.

This is the sort of bowling Bell loves to score hundreds against.
