New Zealand in England May - June 2013

As I said before there's nothing wrong with this pitch. England made a massive mistake bowling first and now the scoreboard pressure is taking.it's toil. Enough carry for edges. As NZ showed with their first day runs and second collapse of sorts, have to actually bat well to score them.

England's best chance now may well be following on and ending up setting NZ 200odd.

----------

Often feel England have one plan, which is to bowl just outside off stump on a length. When a pitch doesn't nip, it's imperative that you can change your lengths. NZ have done that much better.

----------

Also, McCullum seems a natural captain in terms of ingenuity in the field.

He seems to have plans designed to get wickets, which neither Cook, or Strauss before him, had.

If England lose this match it Will be the most depressed i have been watching this team. think we definitely underestimated NZ, and now we are paying the price. although having said that the kiwis have shown that they really aren't a bad team. Their batting is decent. i like their young players like rutherford, watling and Williamson. Taylor and mccullum are obviously quality and their weak link (fulton) scored a hundred. guptill Will come back in and make the batting stronger.

As for their bowling, the seamers are never going to be world class, but they work hard. more importantly, they pitch the ball up. southee and bolt could form a great new ball partnership for a decade. bring the big in who played the one payers and you've got an attack.

.

----------

Lastly, Bruce Martin was being laughed at by commentators before the start of the series. he's shown that he has far more about him than monty panesar. He'd definitely get into australia's and probably south africa's team.

Monty is so over rated by commentators it's hilarious. Been shown up for what he is this series. He can be tight, which with Swann bowling the other end worked on turning pitches.

Like any bowling machine, the more the surface does, and the more unpredictable it is, the harder it gets to play. If the pitch isn't turning much, it's like having a net.

----------

As bad as it is at the moment. Nothing to say Root and Prior can't put on 300 together :p

Guptill is an awful test opener, he shouldn't be in the side. Maybe as a middle order cover. He hasn't got a ton vs a top 8 side in nearly 60 innings, his average of 30 is flattering considering his minnow bashing scores like 186 vs Bangladesh. Fulton at least has a bit of fight, and has been in form domestically.

I'm just not getting why England are playing in such a negative way that a draw is the best result possible.
At the rate they're scoring even if they kept all their wickets in hand they wouldn't reach the NZ score till day 5.

Well Prior is worlds best Wicket Keeper in Tests. He has batted so perfectly and has bailed out England many times. :clap. He is out, but the lower tail is enough to see out the follow on for England. Yet NZ have performed brilliantly this series and McCullums captaincy has been upto the mark so far, god knows why did he give it up last time he was made the captain?

NZ with Ryder back and Vettori back could be a force worth giving fight, even a draw here would be awesome to them and a loss for England would be pathetic. 270 runs behind so far and a lead of 200 should be NZ's sight now with Prior gone.

*clutches at straws*

Broad is due a score I suppose...

... and Finn is in the form of his life ... :(

Vettori is not fit, I would not pick him anyway. Martin has been more impressive than he has for a long time. Ryder is hit and miss, if he doesn't want to play don't pick him. He's a disruptive figure, whether it be off-field indiscretions or injuries.

Oh and Cook's minnow bashing purple patch has come to an end. Been pissing myself laughing whenever I see him mentioned in the same sentence as Clarke in either batting or captaincy :lol

Not enforcing the follow-on with that massive lead on this wicket, turning out to be utterly stupid

Well practically 255/3 and NZ atleast need another 150 runs to save this match from losing thats 161 runs in second innings now. They can do that cant they?

Save this match from LOSING? Are you serious? After a team just got 204 all out, 400 is not safe?

They'll want a 400 lead at least, but a few wickets, or even 5 wickets and England's notions towards a win will be long gone.
