Pakistan levels the series 1-1

Sami is going to bowl to Van der Wath, the first ball defended, second ball flicked between short fine leg and square leg for a four bringing South Africa 2 runs closer to sealing the series. Next ball HOWZAT!!! :upray :hpraise , this looks okay.... and the umpire raises his finger. Pakistan have won by 2 runs.

Pakistan have levelled the ODI series 1-1 against the strong South Africa after winning by 2 runs in another thriller.

The Man of the Match is again Shoaib Malik (47 and 1-24)

Inzamam-Ul-Haq: " After a bad start to the ODI series, I believe my team can win this third ODI decider and thats all I have to say. "

Graeme Smith: " This is unfolding just like the series against Australia where we won the decider with great confidence. If we just keep going and trying our best, we can win this decider just like last time. "

According to the captains, the teams are the best possible at the moment. South Africa are a bit disadvantaged with Nel pulling out after rolling his ankle during the morning training session a day before the 3rd ODI, so Boje and young fast bowler, Dale Steyn have come into the team. Pakistan have brought young leg-spinner, Danish Kaneria into the ODI side due Shoaib Akhtar being out of form.

South Africa lineup:
Graeme Smith
Herschelle Gibbs
Jacques Kallis
Boeta Dippenaar
Ashwell Prince
Mark Boucher
Shaun Pollock
Johan van der Wath
Nicky Boje
Makhaya Ntini
Dale Steyn

Pakistan lineup:
Shoaib Malik
Salman Butt
Younis Khan
Inzamam-ul-Haq
Mohammad Yousuf
Shahid Afridi
Kamran Akmal
Abdul Razzaq
Mohammad Sami
Rana Naved Ul Hasan
Danish Kaneria

The third, final and deciding ODI between Pakistan and South Africa will be played at Newlands. This pitch is very damp, it has been raining here for the last few days, making the weather very humid. This pitch will suiut the pacers more than the spinners, the humidity will make the ball swing much more than usual giving South Africa the upper hand early with new ball and even later on. The spinners won't do much damage unless they can skid the ball in and keeping it low, then there will be lots of LBW appeals.

Pakistan have won the toss and have elected to bat.

Steyn strikes

Young fast bowler, Dale Steyn has struck in his first over to Salman Butt, after bowling some great reversing-swinging deliveries, Steyn popped out a near perfect slower late in-swinging ball to the left-hander, Butt was beaten during the flight and defended forward to early and the ball swung back across and took the bails off Butt's off-stump and middle-stump. This is a really bad start to Pakistan's innings.

Pakistan are 1-10 after 2 overs.

Recovery

Pakistan have recovered after the early loss of opener, Salman Butt for 4 (6) by the 10 over mark. Pakistan are travelling at 5.6 runs an over. Malik and Khan are looking very strong early in their innings, if South Africa want to win easily then they have to break this solid partnership soon.

pakistan could be looking at a 270+ score

they still have some of their big hitters to come but 40 overs is still a long way and anything can happen

Khan goes

Younis Khan has been dismissed for a decent 32 (44) by Kallis, the ball was obviously slower but it landed shorter than expected and just long-hopped to Khan, Khan should of just pulled this for a boundary but instead tried to drive it, he went too early and nicked it to Boucher's right where he dived and took the catch. Inzamam-Ul-Haq is now in, the skipper should get Pakistan to higher ground in his innings.

Pakistan are 2-85 after 18 overs.

Sorry for the lack of updates if anyone is reading this, I have tight computer times these days. The weekends are mostly the only time I go on BLIC.

Pakistan still in great position becos they have scored quick 85 in just 17 overs...But SA are more experienced in chasing as they are record makers!!!

:cheers to SA!!!

Very nice story Mick. Presentation is good and updates are frequent.

:cheers,
Leftie
