I don't think Australia have to bowlers to bowl Pakistan out for 120 odd. 180odd maybe if they bowl exceptionally.

You're absolutely right. Logically there should be no reason why we shouldn't be able to chase 120-130 odd. But since our batsmen have the tendency to give it away to the worst of deliveries (again combined with the weight of history), it makes us nervous. No doubt, the Pakistani players would be feeling that weight on their shoulders. As Osman Samiuddin stated of the third day's play on cricinfo, "Pakistani fight themselves." I think that is the most apt description of our bowling on the third day. That would be translated onto our batsmen as well.

the fielding positions are boring as hell but they're not as bad as chappell is trying to make out.

he's always like this, if australia are chasing 800 he'd be claiming the fielding would be giving them the advantage, if they were collapsing for 50 he'd be going about how the conditions suited them to get the opposition all out for 20.

Australia are not going to get safe scoring at 1 an over, hussey is not in that good nick and siddle is a genuine tail ender, not an awful one, but not one that can play proper strokes. They will need to score at a decent rate to get a 150 lead. still, you'd expect yousuf to have noticed the pattern and moved the field up after the first 3 balls, just to see if they can get a full over at siddle.

Exactly. The commentators are talking as though the fielders should all be up for Hussey to give him the chance to hit a couple of boundaries every over. They just need to be patient and wait for the mistake from the batsmen.

they're not that bad, hussey needs to play at something to get a single, so it's not like he can fend off everything. chappell is speaking with a hint of wishful thinking, he wants the field up so they can get a few fours and get the score up quickly.

I wouldn't be surprised if he doesn't bring up 100, or at least loses siddle before he does.

however, that was just bad bowling from kaneria, he needs to keep on the right length.
