Not having Younus Khan will be a big handicap. What was the point of sending him to play for South Australia in the SS if he is not even in the Test team for this tour :doh
As Ponting gets older - he's 35 now- he may find the short ball troubling, but in his career he without peer as a hooker and puller, many many many fast bowlers have failed miserably trying to bounce him out. Its one of cricket's greatest sights- seeing Punter tear apart the opening bowlers at no. 3 with a barrage of pulls and glorious drives.

Ponting-Khawaja
Katich-Hughes
Hussey-Ferguson/Klinger
Could also add Mitch Marsh, Cosgrove, Cooper.
Mohammad Sami is still in Pakistan
Insomniac added 2 Minutes and 22 Seconds later...
I did read in the newspaper that Pakistan are contemplating playing both Ajmal and Kaneria, with Aamir and Asif the 2 pacemen.
This could be a very successful or a very disasterous plan for Pakistan (if this is indeed what they decide to go with).
It's still freaking hot though2 spinners are needed on the sub continent because pace bowling becomes ineffective and it's hot so the spinners need to bowl all day. In australia quick bowling will always offer something, need to play 3 quicks.
It's still freaking hot though
I hope the commentators don't pray for Katich to bowl again, whenever no wicket falls, they just start bagging Ponting for not using Katich.
Brisbane is pretty humid. Plus Tasmania gets 13 degree cold rain days, even in summer.I haven't seen snow for 3 years :crying
That's why pitches in Australia crack, we get dry heat here, instead of the humid conditions you get elsewhere.
Also our ozone layer is broken :doh
*goes to turn on air conditioner*
While Sami is going from Pakistan, Abdur Rauf is already in the squad but remained untested so far.
Sami is likely to play the first Test in place of Umar, who is facing some fitness problems, as Rauf is likely to remain untested despite showing good performances in the side matches in New Zealand and now against Tasmania. He captured seven wickets in two matches including four scalps in New Zealand.
