Pakistan Tour of Australia 2009/10

Looks like Australia are out in the field and Pakistan running between the wickets. Poor call really, Clarke had no chance.

I thought they bowled really well at Marsh, Asif's line was superb and if Marsh was going to counter it, he was going to have to take some sort of risk that could well have ended the same way for him. Haddin on the other hand probably showed why he's more suited to batting down the order. Although he has the ability, once the blood starts rushing he struggles to deny himself a stupid shot.

That was basically the Gilly role that we used so successfully last decade. With the batsmen we have underneath him we can afford to have an explosive guy at opener.

OMG Akmal caught one off the spinner!

Trying to slog yorkers doesn't make you an aggressive opener, it just makes you look stupid. Good aggression doesn't mean trying to hit every ball for four and just being lucky to get 50, it still requires choices and calculated risks. Haddin had played well through the first 10 overs, he'd made 21 from 19 without needing big unorthodox shots. In the 48th over, you take it, but at the top, when he starts to play those shots, he has to remain in control of his own innings.

Haddin is never going to be a long term option at opener but I don't think it would ever be considered either. He was the best man for the job in the current squad with Watson being rested and I think he did his job reasonably well.

One misjudgment shouldn't brand him into a wreckless player. If he was that would he have made these sorts of scores in succession 109,43,88*,53 and 78,62,40? His 109 showed hes more than capable of settling into the knock and then hitting out in the 40th over.

They really need to take this batting powerplay before the last 5 overs. With Hussey and Hopes the last 2 recognised batsmen they need to take advantage of it while they are out there. If one of these guys goes now it will probably be wasted.

It's fine to take it right at the end if you have wickets in hand but at this stage with not to much batting to come it's a must to take it early

4 no ball, good stuff Hopes :p Lucky that was a slower ball could have been in trouble if it was his normal pace. Agree about the powerplay, hate how we keep taking it so late. And Johnson would have been handy today, we might need the tail today.

bad captaincy by Yousuf yet again... 3 overs from Ajmal left with powerplay still left. Ajmal will have to bowl extremely well to containt within PP....

Holly crap Hauritz teeing off. Might be trying to move himself ahead of Johnson and with hits like that, hes more than welcome too!

Well played Ritz what a 50, off only 36 balls!

good use of power plays.... the commentators have no clue... first they were saying 240 is a defendable target.. and now they are saying 270 is not safe...wtf

Hauritz is batting tweaking mint as, what a gun. He's a better bat than Johnson, far better technique than Johnson always playing that late cut that isn't actually a late cut.

Good choice there to bring Harris up, played well for his 4, but really that's great, they didn't cross when Hussey went out to get Hauritz on strike, then they did cross now that Harris went out. Hauritz is tank as. (Y)

277 a dam good finish considering we were 6/190 and into our bowlers.

Was strange seeing Harris below Siddle, he is classed as an all rounder by some.
