No offense but I doubt he can survive the new ball. Better to use him when the ball doesn't do much.

Tbh I would love that to happen, especially now that Ponting will be rested for the 5th ODI. But he is only 18 and I seriously cannot see it happening. We will probably get some douchebag like Voges into the team.

Tum its just a thought, he aint getting much of a bat these days, why not let him have a go? 2 years ago no-onre thought Watson could face the new ball, look what he's done. I'm not saying Johnson is an opener, but why not give him a go for a game or two under no pressure?

Agree with Robelinda. When I heard Watson was out and Mitch was in, I immediately thought about giving Mitch a chance in the top five.

The inclusion of Hopes isn't really something I like, although he bowled really well at the WACA last year. IMO we would have been better off bringing in a young opener to play the position, rather than sending our keeper there and bringing in a 30 year old in a dead game.

But meh.

Interesting stat. Our two best test grounds (The Gabba and WACA) are our worst ODI grounds :|

Never minded the Johnson opening idea but now that we actually have our opening combo and a handy backup with Haddin there isn't much point in moving him there now. With White killing it at 5, Johnson is now our hit out guy at the end.

^ White was never a good hit out guy anyway...

TBH the only guy that has been good in the hit out department is Hussey. Before him I can't even remember our hit out guy, we have tried a few but no one has done it consistent enough.
