Pakistan Tour of Australia 2009/10

How random is this, but I have one of Asim Kamals bats. This Pakistani guy in my cricket club used to play club cricket with him in Pakistan. He gave me one of Asim Kamals old bats that he used in 1st class games to have as I did not have one. He has even written his name on the side of it.

Cool thing about the bat, it has a massive concentration of red spots on the sweet spot :) I say play him!

Asim Kamal lacks support like faisal Iqbal gets from Javed Miandad.

Pakistan bowling looks better then the Aussie at this moment. Asif is back and bowling like he never left, Aamer and Gul are two quality bowlers that will like what Aussies pitches offer and Kaneria is a good spinner. He has done well in Australia in the past.

Gul`s a bit overrated as a test match bowler. I`m yet to see him do justice in test cricket or even ODIs other than the 5fer against India at Lahore in 2004. He`s a gun T20 bowler though.

Well my friend you have hit the proverbial nail right on the head there. Faisal Iqbal plays because his uncle is a big shot and Imran Farhat plays because he has influential father in law. This nepotism is the root cause of fall of cricket for otherwise most talented cricketing nation (arguably) in the world.

Umer Gul unfortunately has forgotten how to ball in test cricket due to his success in and concentration on T-20 cricket. He was wonderful line and length bowlers when he first burst onto the scene, but he bowls too many yorkers and short ball in test cricket.

Pakistan have one of the best attacks in Test cricket atm. We know about Asif and Aamer, Gul can reverse swing and Kaneria is capable of turning it. The latter two can be seen as weaknesses but Kaneria would walk into our team. Sadly even with that their fielding really lets them down and their batsmen give them nothing.

Guls a fine tests match bowler. He is specialist in the short form obviously but his test record hasn't been that bad. Since coming back from his injury he has done well enough. The average might be a bit too high but his strike rate isn't bad at all.
Given time he can become a dependable 1st change bowler for Pakistan. I don't see who else Pakistan could play.

I'm looking forward to seeing Yousuf bat. He really exploded in Test cricket after his last tour of Australia, so hopefully he's batting well and we can see how good he really is.

And Asif and Aamer should be great to watch too. Would be awesome if the great Shoaib Akhtar were playing too, even if he is fat...

Yousuf looks out of form, hes been very average in NZ, certainly not what I've come to expect from him.

You are versing New Zealand ...

IMO we have a pretty decent bowling attack. Better than most teams, but I wouldnt say a top 3 bowling attack. Aamir and Asif are an Ideal bowling pair for us, but we need more from Gul and at-times Kaneria. The batting will obviously let us down.

I honestly dont think we stand a chance in this series. Even if we manage to draw a game it would be an outstanding thing

Tough to say who honestly has the best fast bowling attack in world cricket. Pak probably in the top 3.

Steyn
Ntini
Morkel
Parnell

Johnson
Siddle
Hilfy
Watson
Lee

Aamir
Asif
Gul

Taylor
Roach
Edwards

Broad
Anderson
Flintoff (yes i know he does not play tests but come on Ashes were just yesterday)

Hard to pick between those attacks, on their day each one can destroy top quality opponents. I suppose the Aussies and Saffers just do it more consistently

Pakistan really have to put up a great show to beat aussies,we are in worst batting form and fielding is very questionable. You can't win a series with simply bowling when your bowler have to take 15-16 wickets in each innings.
I am very pessimistic about this series, but still I know that Pakistan always have two sides and which side they will come up is hard to predict.

We are not in the worst batting form, our batsman just aren't good enough. What makes it worse is that Younis Khan is not in the lineup.

We will rely on Yousuf and Akmals to bat in this series, and somehow others will have to play around them. Butt gives me some hope since he did score a century last time in Aus against Mcgrath and Warne.
