Pakistan vs England Jul-Aug-Sep 2010

I dunno. I'd actually forgotten all about it until it was brought up again in this thread. Certainly wasn't my motive.

Pakistan fans are just trying to divert the negative attention from their team. Pathetic. Fact is, they're match fixers and cheats.
So we're good enough to fix games and end up winning them?

I'm impressed.

Why do all Pakistanis think we're afraid of Gul's bowling :/

Not afraid of it but when he cleaned up New Zealand guess who was the first guy to yell "ball tampering", yea it was irottev. So the Pakistani fans on this board didn't forget that.

To be fair though their Captain got caught ball tampering just a few months after. Gul was reversing the ball inside of 15 overs and that is very very unusual.

Im not saying they did ball tamper, I just think there is a reason to be suspicious. No point in bringing it back up though, its done.

As was said before when Pakistan do it its ball tampering when others do it its great skill. Gul has always been known as one of the best if not the best reverse swing bowler over the last 2-3 years. In Pakistan they teach you how to take care of the ball and how to shine it properly and they use that as they should.

Time lines are important, out of context anything can be made to look like anything. Afridi tampering, cheating, lying was followed by match fixing and and allegations against many members of the team. When Athers did it, it was him and him alone.

Slightly back on topic though, I honestly have no clue who will win tomorrow. Both teams have a hell of a lot to play for.

One team's gonna go back to the hotel in tears - it's an important game I think on the wider spectrum of cricket considering what's happened in the last few months.

That would work except for the fact that the Pakistani captain got caught ball tampering

Thats fine he got caught doing something stupid, biting a ball which is clearly ball tampering.
But every time a Pakistani bowler comes out with a good performance its ball tampering. People said it for Aamer in New Zealand, for Asif in England, for Gul in the WC but yet they got no proof for that match they just speak in general.
In the 05 Ashes I think it was England were using the jelly beans (mints or whatever) to help them get a hard coating on the one side of the ball so am I safe to assume that every time Anderson is reversing the ball its the jelly beans.

England need to bat first, their best chance of winning is to get Pakistan chasing.

Mark added 1 Minutes and 53 Seconds later...

I agree that they get an excessive amount of doubt on their achievements , however they brought it on themselves.

Pakistan cricket has a lot of work to do before they regain the publics trust. Unfortunately that is just how it works.

Yea they do have a long way to go and they are doing well so far in this ODI series by playing hard and winning some matches and you can see how much it means to them after all that has happened but it doesn't help when some dude who has nothing better to do keeps yelling out ball tampering, he is doing it all illegally.

Ball tampering and match fixing should not be uttered in the same breath.

Ball tampering is cheating to try to help you WIN the game for your team, not losing it for personal financial gain. Bad it may be, its a hell of a lot more noble than taking money to lose games.

Even the issue of ball tampering is not a concrete one. There are many who want it legalized (myself included) to address the balance of bat and ball.

When you see the captain of Pakistan biting a cricket ball blatantly on the field you have to wonder how many times in past and future it would happen again...

The past you can't worry about and in the future you can prevent it. I understand you are upset and angry at what has happened these last few weeks, we all are. It's ok to rant a bit and let loose some steam but after a while its becomes stale.
