I honestly feel that more people and players are involved in this. How can a bowler guarantee 13-15 runs an over. To an extent, I feel the batsmen are involved too.

I wonder what action would be taken cause there is no law as such in India for such kind of crimes. It would be foolish to imprison these guys when match-fixers were not imprisoned.

Well, the Delhi Police did say that they were expecting to make more arrests in the upcoming days, though they did specify that these would not be players.

I understand how we feel when a new scandal comes out, and we feel that the whole world is involved in it - but this sort of stuff can easily be achieved without the batsman being in on it. The batsman's job is to score runs. He will score them more easily if the bowler is bowling tripe. It's that easy. It's our natural pessimistic tendency to think that everyone and their mother is involved...

... I hope.

Like Ganguly here, I am also feeling very sad and sorry for the man, Rahul Dravid. He doesn't deserve to captain a team that is carrying all these evil minded players.

As far as Sreesanth goes, I still can't believe he is involved. From what I've seen of him, he is a very soft, god fearing guy who has good family values. He is overtly aggressive and all that on the field, but behind all that he was a soft good natured guy. Hard to believe he is involved in all this.. Maybe he was forced into this by someone. The truth might never come out, but I wish it does for the good of Sreesanth and everyone.

Time to take stock now, and think about how further damage can be avoided to the nation's reputation. For a first, the IPL should be scrapped. Its a breeding ground for corruption with the obscene amounts of money being paid out to the players, and the glaring media spotlight that accompanies it. I enjoy the IPL, but if it causes damage like this, it should be scrapped. When you let all these rich people like the Ambani's and the Shahrukh's and the Srinivasan's flaunt their big money, you will end up with dirt like this. In a still developing and a greedy mindset country like ours (I mean I am part of it too), we still need to go a lot down further before our people can be mature enough not to fall for the money trap pretty easily.

Won't agree with you here. Its just like taking down an iron bridge just because a bolt got rusted.
I mean, there's money and all the glamour & spotlight, but its up to the players after all and their individual minds. If they are greedy for money, they'd find another way to get it. Scrapping the league does no good.
And, as according to the reports, do you scrap a league because 13 d**kheads spot fixed 3 guys? That doesn't sound right, does it?
IPL is the very place where we've picked up loads of new players for our country. And, that doesn't stay here, even many others have found the guys they needed. Look at the resurrected Windies for that matter.
Its time we punished the guilty and move forward with the tournament. No, these bookies and their ugly acts cannot take down this tournament.

Royals could be distracted big time by the events that just unfolded. Hope they can regroup and play as they have done till now. Dravid is capable of bringing them together at this time.

RR needs to regroup quickly. Two losses in a row from here & they'd be sitting out on 4th spot, having lost the eliminator. Time for some motivation from Dravid!

Though Sree Santh was over aggressive,he always used to wear some religious marks,he is very god fearing as Sai said.I dont understand how he went into this spot fixing case.He has had a great injury and he has come out of that, trained hard and made him fit for IPL,it actually shows his determination to come out and play again,or maybe he wanted more money via Hawala and he trained hard and made a comeback for that?I am actually very dissapointed with Sree Santh alone here.He has represented Indian test team,a highest honour one can get in his life is representing your nation in whites and he has done such a thing.Chavan and Chandila are just raw talents and they get involved, its not correct but i can atleast understand. But this guy Sree Santh!:( I pity him actually.Aldrady he is being paid more than what he deserves in IPL,he comes in Kent and Kingfisher Ad too,so he should be getting enough money and luxury aldrady, then why spot fix?
Now i wont be surprised if RR lose today and eventually in the playoffs and get out too.Though Dravid can motivate big time, but its really tough to come out and play freely with such mindsets.God save Rajasthan Royals and Rahul Dravid.
The way RR play today can tell us a million answers.Neverthless i still support RR whole heartedly for my Rahul Dravid.Halla Bol Rahul Royals!

Big match today SRH vs RR rajasthan dint had a good time away from their home just like rcb hope today they will win and go to playoffs with confidence. And keep Rcb in the hunt :D

For now, the evidences and other things doesn't add up nicely. There is a great possibility that, he's been framed for spoke out loudly against IPL governing bodies again recently about the Harbhajan Slapping incident. Current evidences are pretty stupid and weak.

One way out for these guys is to simply say that the underworld threatened them. I think ,they might escape the life-ban if they say so.

^^^^
They're facing a criminal prosecution. They aren't standing in their school principal's office to get out with lame excuses. With the severity of the crime, they will be under the scanner big time.

Whoa.... I didn't think of that angle at all. Might be true! Sree recently was reported to be saying that the entire slap gate episode was scripted. Maybe he is being framed because of that.

He confessed before the Delhi police that he is guilty and that no one has framed it or something. He mentioned that his cousin Jiju Janardan lured him into it.

While the "Jiju Janardan" news is in some other Times Of India article, I found this one stating that he had confessed.

Article: Teary-eyed Sreesanth confessed to spot-fixing: Delhi Police

..."Sreesanth has confessed to spot-fixing. He was teary eyed during interrogation," a Delhi Police official said.

Rajasthan Royals cricketer Ankeet Chavan was the first to accept his role in spot-fixing during questioned by Delhi Police while the third player, Ajit Chandila, has not yet accepted the charges....

Meanwhile, I'll salute that man Dravid, his team, the team management and all their supporters, who've stood tall through this hour of crisis. True such situations bring the best out of you. RR just reduced SRH to 5/3. Currently at 76/4 faring at less than run a ball. Won't be surprised if RR go on to win this one in SRH's backyard.
