Williams expresses joy at promotion

Blackpool FC's new assistant manager, Rhys Williams, has expressed his joy at being promoted from the head coach position to the assistant manager position earlier today after JJ Simpson was sacked due to his blatant arrogance :p.

Williams was interviewed just now and had this to say:

Well, its a privilege to become the asst. manager of Blackpool. It is, however, a shock to the system as the recent controversy of JJ Simpson has taken the shine away from the good early preseason training the lads have been doing.
The team look ready for the challenge this season and I hope that the new head coach will keep my ideas in place with the squad. I'm hoping to get round to asking the PC.net fans what pre-season friendlies we'd like to play this season.
It's the second time I've been assistant manager in my life. I was in the same position with Swansea when we promoted up from the now League Two to League One.
The players have been really good to me here about my sudden promotion and I'm looking to keep the close and friendly bonds that I have already developed within the squad - even in my higher position now.
Working under Briggsey is very exciting as he is an incredibly talented manager. Without Briggsey at the helm, I wouldn't have as much faith in our likelihood of survival as I do now. Long live Briggsey and his backroom coaching staff.
Rhys.

Briggsey Eyes Youth Potential / Proposes Shortlist

Blackpool manager Briggsey has today turned up the heat on his new backroom staff and asked them to work with him in producing a shortlist of potential talent that could be brought in ASAP.

The shortlist should consist of players who are not our of our reach and would jump at the chance to come and work for a top class manager in the Championship (;))

Players who we could get on loan would be useful. The defence has been eyed up as a potential weak point. Briggsey will comment further on this matter when he meets up with his new players for the first time tonight.

Teague has publicly stated that he is happy and yet sad about his promotion. He has said that he is grateful for the 1st team coaching job, but is disappointed that he now will have to work under Mr.Williams. "He is a bad person! I have seen him taking pork pies of little kids. He is a very nasty bloke, but I am happy to be involved with the 1st team!" We shall see how things get going with Blackpool over the next few weeks...

(Only Jokes Rhys :p)

what is our transfer budget, 'cus i could scout scandinavia for young starlets

Not just saying this because i supoort Bristol City, but after seeing them play quite often this guy is a must buy! Adriano Basso. Brazilian acrobatic goalie. Was named the Football League's best keeper by Soccer AM a few years back. I see our goalie isn't as good as Basso (Paul Rachubka) , so I think he would be a good signing.

Also another area we need to strengthen is up-front! 30 year old Andy Gray from Burnley would be a good choice for a smalish amount of money (scored 9 in real-life this season). Another good buy would be 24 year old Jon Walters at Ipswich. He is a promising irish forward who I think we might be able to get (He has scored 8 in real-life). Junior Agogo would be a quality signing from Nottingham Forest. In league one but is a scoring machine...

Transfer Budget: £375k
Wage Budget: £67k

I don't know how good he is in game but Alan Sheehan is a better dead ball taker than most players in the premiership. The consistency he creates chances from them is amazing. Roberto Carlos of the championship :p

Ok let me list my players that I said would be good signings:

  • Junior Agogo - 180k - Nottingham Forest
  • Adriano Basso - 100k - Bristol City
  • Andy Gray - 1 mil - Burnley
  • Jon Walters - 160k - Ipswich

So I reckon we could get the 3 of those who are below our transfer budget. Andy Gray has some great attributes so could be worth a go at loaning him. Agogo is probably the best buy out of those 4. Basso is also a great buy at just 100k!

I think out of our squad that the following are worthless players:

  • Phil Marsh - AM R, ST
  • Adrian Forbes - AM R, ST
  • Andy Morell - ST

Keigan Parker is worth quite a lot. On my Boro FM game he is said to be worth 1.5 mil. If we could get around that for him we could buy Agogo and Jon Walters for our two good strikers...

Ill start searching tonight when i get home. Where looking like proper staff now lads. And why dont me try and buy Kaka and ronaldinoh they would be top signings :)

Timon van Leeuwen, a quality AMC, but be warned, he is only 5 foot tall...i kid you not :p

daniel elvestad, "a good signing for any club in the Coca-Cola Championship" and at £65k, he's surely worth a punt?

Ok I will comply a list of all players that we have discussed :)

So far:

Adriano Basso - GK - 180k
Andy Gray - ST - 1mil
Jon Walters - ST - 160k
Junior Agogo - ST - 100k
Alan Sheehan - DL - 80k

Ben, both of those aren't on FM08 as I have searched and they aint come up...

Nice list there Treva, my friend :p

Rhys Williams has responded to Jack Teague's comments by dismissing them as stupid in-house joking. He knows that Jack does not really mean what he said earlier and was just trying to get some much needed press coverage.
Williams has promised to talk to Teague about the incident and resolve the issue.
