...McDonald

Yes Trev(a)or McDonald has a great knowledge of football! Nah seriously though, good luck to everyone. I'm sure we will win no matter who is in charge.

^^^ That is a load of rubbish. If you actually read this then Matthews sucks big time! Teague for manager, Teague for manager!

I was starting to think when reading that he must be a nice guy deep down but then i read whats below it and realise hes a selvish showoff!

ha lol. Nah I am just messin really. As you can tell we are keen to hear who has the manager's job :)

Briggsey for Blackpool?

Users on the Sky Sports website have been debating on whether Briggsey is the right man for the Blackpool job, ever since he reportedly announced his interest. Here's what some of them had to say.

Jason Leggitt (Sheffield United fan) says...
Briggsey would be a great manager for Blackpool. You know he can deliver at a high level.

Lisa Lowther (Chelsea fan) says...
Briggsey would be the greatest best choice Planetcricket have ever made for the Blackpool Manager, they should have got rid of the old manager long ago...

Anthony Boyle (Manchester United fan) says...
Personally i think Briggsey is by far the best man for the job. He can handle the press very well and the pressure, and also he is one of the greatest managers on the planet. If he was at the reigns maybe he could get Southern and Jorgensen playing well together.

Adam Sheldrick (Blackpool fan) says...
The best man for the job by a mile, has passion for the game, will ignore the press which alot of people believe to be who puts the pressure on the players, but most of all will coach the side as well as manage them, wont be afraid to drop the big names that dont perform. he will also bring a balance to the side although a slight worry about us playing with wingbacks comes to mind.

Tony Laws (Blackpool fan) says...
Forget Jose! Briggsey is the special one that we want for the Blackpool job. I just hope he's not considered too much of a loose cannon by the new board who are known to like their yes men. Come on Briggsey - you're the man to lead us back to the top of English football. Man Utd and co watch out!

John Ford (Arsenal fan) says...
In simple terms Briggsey is the best manager in the whole world, wow !! I can dream of Blackpool winning the Premier League under Briggsey. Let us not forget, Briggsey is the special one!! Why ever did you leave us!!

'I am delighted to unveil...********... as the manager of Blackpool'

Briggsey has been appointed as manager of Blackpool at a press conference this morning.

The Yorkshireman will begin work immediately and he will be joined by JJ Simpson as his assistant and Rhys Williams as his first team coach.

"I am delighted to unveil the successful Arsenal manager, Briggsey, as the manager of Blackpool," said chairman Lee Payne.

"There was a lot to think about, but the club is confident it has made the correct decision."

The other contenders for the manager's position - Jack Teague, Ben Manning and Richard Matthews - have been offered alternative jobs at the club.

Teague has the opportunity to become Head Scout, with Manning and Matthews as Scouts. Teague would set them assignments and it would then be Manning and Matthews to complete them and suggest new players to sign.

It is not yet known if the trio have accepted the offers.

Briggsey must now start a game on FM 2008 as Blackpool.

What Briggsey Said

A selection of the best quotes from Briggsey's first news conference as Blackpool manager.

Briggsey on what he intends to do at Blackpool:
To give my best, to improve things and to create the football team in relation to my image and my football philosophy.

Briggsey on who he will be buying:
I would say if all the names you wrote in the last few days are correct we would have a 50-player squad and I hate to work with big squads.

I want a small squad - 21 players plus the goalkeepers and no more.

Briggsey on Blackpool's credentials:
We have top players and, sorry if I'm arrogant, we have a top manager.

Briggsey on his ambitions for next season:
The biggest ambition I have is to win the first Championship match on 11 August.

Briggsey, when pressed, on his other ambitions for the season:
The second ambition is to win the second Championship match on 18 August and we will keep going like this.

Briggsey on being a modern day football manager:
I have loved football since I can remember and I understand the evolution of football and the modern needs of football.

I'm not a defender of old or new football managers. I believe in good ones and bad ones, those that achieve success and those that don't.

Please don't call me arrogant, but I'm European champion and I think I'm a special one.

Briggsey on Simon Grayson's opinion that he may struggle to make the down-ward spiral from Premiership football to Championship:
I heard that and I suggest if one of you is Mr Grayson's friend or has his number you should call him and explain to him that for a team to win the European Cup it has to beat many teams from many countries.

I did not win the cup playing against 20 Premiership teams. I beat teams from every country, no matter how big or small, and this will be no different for me.

Briggsey on which of Blackpool's players he has been impressed with:
I'm a great defender of team spirit and team work and the first thing I have to promise to my new players is that I will look at them all with the same eyes.

I don't want special relations with one of them. I hate to speak about individuals. Players don't win you trophies, teams win trophies, squads win trophies.

I cannot say I love this player, but generally I love the players who love to win. Not only the ones that love to win in 90 minutes but love to win every day, in every training session and in all of their lives.

Briggsey on leaving Arsenal:
I have to pay my tribute to Arsenal. It is an amazing club, has amazing players, the board was fantastic, the supporters are incredible how they support the team.

But they have to understand my wish, my desire, my dream to go to a different challenge.

I hope everything goes well for them. If I meet them in the future it will be the only time I wish them to lose.

It was a wonderful story but the story has to end.

Williams delighted with choice of manager

Rhys Williams, Blackpool first team coach, has announced that he is delighted with the choice of manager.

He said that he is very happy that Briggsey has been unveiled and is looking forward to working under such a successful manager, and giving hints and tips on the team's ability/tactics :p

Having previously worked at Wrexham and Swansea City, Williams is amazed to have made the move up a division into the Championship.

"Having watched Blackpool play against Swansea last season, I already know a thing or two about the club, and the players."

"I have already started planning the training programs and stuff like that. Looking forward to the session later tonight!"

"Now then, what's the club chant and stuff? Poolers?"

When questioned about his ambitions for the club:

"Win matches, one by one, and develop a strong understanding between the staff and the players."

"Now then, what's the club chant and stuff? Poolers?"
Who needs Mourinho....We've got Briggsdinho ;)

P.S I wont be able to start it tonight, ive got a party to attend so most likely tomorrow will be the start up date!

In the mean time, start suggesting potential players! When I start the game, ill let everyone know about finances etc.

Reports have stated that Jack Teague has turned down manager offers from Lincoln City and Staines Town, to accept the head scout position at Blackpool. He said that the job offers were fabulous but that he wanted to try and work with new man Briggsey at the helm of Blackpool. With Teague being a member of planetcricket.org, the site that now owns Blackpool, he said that he just couldn't betray those from the site. Although Teague is disappointed not to get the manager position, he is relishing the opportunity to work with Briggsey, Ben and Rich at Blackpool...

Ben Manning today left his post as Scout at Ipswich to take his place in the back room staff at Blackpool, and had this to say on the matter:

It is obviously hard for me to leave Ipswich, given I grew up there and although I may not be head scout here, but the thought of working with all the staff here was too good. Hopefully I can help the club unearth some real talent, and I can already pass on a couple of names which have impressed me on recent trips. Furthermore, I have a good knowledge of the Championship already, given my previous links, and will try to pass on some of my wisdom when required.

Matthews had this to say

" I will accept the job because its a great job and i get to work with great people but i must admit if i was offered a managerial job somewhere else i would have to accept but for he time being i am happy in my posistion."

With Matthews still being linked with the scotland job- this could be a short stay

Simpson sacked!

JJ Simpson has been sacked as the assistant manager of Blackpool.

Simpson was reported to have been disloyal to the club as he was absent during the press conference unveiling his new boss - Briggsey as manager.

Insurance company Sheila's Wheels say Simpson was at their London branch filming a new advertisement.

"Blackpool is no place for people who prefer Sheila's Wheels to football." said chairman Lee Payne.

No new appointment will be made. Instead, the staff structure will look like this:

Manager: Briggsey
Assistant Manager: Rhys Williams (promoted)
First Team Coach: Jack Teague (promoted)
Head Scout: Ben Manning (promoted)
Scout: Richard Matthews

Matthews has reacted too the incident

" I wasnt surprised about this- i have seen bra and knickers in his draws and i think we all know who been wearing them"
