Proof as to why AFL beats every other sport in the world

Pink is one of the world's most popular artists at the moment. Does that make her good?

Popularity does not=success.

Pink will be forgotten in ten or twenty years time. Football will not. Daft comparison!

Sorry Ben, but yes it is. He's saying that if millions and millions of people watch AFL, even if they hate it to the brink of crying, that they're guaranteed to think it's better to watch?

Can't agree with ya.
If they were brought up with both sports then the majority would probably opt to follow AFL over Soccer. Most Australians have been brought up with both sports and it's no coicindence that AFL is the more popular in Australia, because it's better to watch. As I said earlier, I like cricket allot more then AFL but AFL's a better sport to watch and I wouldn't imagine that there would be much that would seperate cricket & soccer from the spectators point of view.

Fair enough, but there is no guarantee everyone will think that, like Dean said. I think this thread's a bit stupid, like quite a few members have said, as comparing how one sport is better than another is all down to personal preference. You prefer AFL > Football, I prefer Football > AFL.

Football's better because I'm right.
AFL's crap because you're wrong.

I think that's what you were getting at? If so, you are correct.

If you gave both sports a go instead of just one, you'd agree that AFL is a better sport to watch, guaranteed.

This isn't correct though.

You can't claim obviously subjective tastes to be objective facts. Music, film, sport, tastes, hell even our emotional reactions aren't globally the same and to suggest so is just plain wrong, no matter what way you try to spin it.

Lets Kidnap an Indian from the Downloads section and he can decide.

he difference between me and you guys is that I have watched both sports on TV, I've been a spectator in matches of both sports. You guys know everything about soccer and nothing about AFL. I know everything about AFL and a lot about soccer. If you gave both sports a go instead of just one, you'd agree that AFL is a better sport to watch, guaranteed.

I have watched both as well, I know a lot about both yet I choose soccer any day of the week, so your theory is stupid.

But your from NSW.....

Anyway, sat down and though I'd watch Man United vs Boro last night. See if it could excite me in ANY way. Well it didn't. After a while i just started channel flicking.

Was the game actually good from a pom/soccer fans point of view?

You should have watched Real Madrid vs Barcelona. Far better than the United game!

Just watching AFL atm, and it's very meh. 3rd game Ive seen and the 2nd I've not really enjoyed. The Grand Final was good, but the other 2 games have been abit crap. Would rather watch Match Of The Day!

It wasn't, no. The champions elect vs a relegation candidate is rather uneventful unless the relegation candidate got an early goal. Some exciting football you want? Try Reading vs Birmingham, Crystal Palace vs Sheffield United, Charlton vs Norwich or Plymouth vs Barnsley. All today. They're going to be great.

Actually we do get a little bit of Championship games over here. And i must admit i really enjoy their games compared to some of the Premier Leagues ones. They seem more attacking....

What game did you watch??

As Ben said, watch Hawthorn vs Carlton. Or two great games over the past few weeks is Essendon vs Collingwood and Carlton v Essendon.
