South Africa in Australia Dec 2008-Jan 2009

This was an excellent effort by the Aussies. The lead was just 250 when Lee got out and the tail wagged big time to take it to something more gargantuan. Haddin played superbly and he was very well supported by Krejza and Johnson who played a few really entertaining shots. The Aussies very much have their nose in front in this match and South Africa will have to play out of their skins to make a match out of it.

Haddin went to greedy and wanted to get his century with a six. He is out by Harris. Australia has a lead of 413 runs. It will be either a draw or a victory for Australia.
Failure to score 400 in 160 overs? That would be some draw.

angryangy added 10 Minutes and 40 Seconds later...

Lee is bowling well, but McKenzie's technique is probably just keeping him in. If he was a bit looser with his front leg he'd have been plumb a couple of times, but has managed to be hit just outside the line.

I remember Kallis drew a match against West Indies. He made a century in about 400 balls, so why not. Anyway, it's pretty clear that South Africa are in defensive mode, since they're 10-0 after 10 overs.

A fantastic inngs by B Haddin,he got good support from Krejza,Jhonson, that why Aus could get a 400+ lead,Aus in driver's seat now...

Johnson gets the break through with his 9th for the match. Looks like a cutter which he has bowled really well this match.

If they bat for the whole 160 overs, I can't see them not making the 400. They will build partnerships and get there eye in if we let them.

A couple of passing showers now. They should start using pace from both ends, see if the pitch has livened up a little.

A well deserved half-century by Smith. They need to draw this match

SA have responded very well,a good fightback by Captain Smith and Amla...

Not looking good now, none of our bowlers are looking like taking a wicket. Need some Johnson magic to get us out of this mess. But really does show Lee isn't anywhere near as threatening without that extra yard of pace. Siddle has been way too short but you can put that down to him not playing many matches at the WACA.

SA will be chasing 250 odd on the last day of this test at this rate. They would not only be favourite but any hope of the draw would be out of the picture unless rain comes in again.

Smith is nearing his century. A remember a Test where South Africa were in such a position, chasing comfortably a target, until they choked again. At the moment this is a familiar moment.

Smith is 4 runs away from his century now.

And he reaches his century with another four. :clap He scored 20 runs in the last 11 balls he faced.
