South Africa in England

Hang about, how can you accuse Gas of causing an argument yet you are constantly goading him into responding to your petty questions? You could simply just ignore him you know.

I'm not calling him a chucker either. As far as i'm concerned, it'd be pretty silly to call him a chucker in an England vs South Africa thread. Rather odd indeed.
He's saying that this forum is only for Englishmen, and we should follow their wishes?

I disagree with him as much as you, but you should just be the better man and back down and just let him think what he wants to. Just causing pointless arguments isn't going to do anything.

Let's face it, if you can send out a team to beat Australia in a best of 5, you've gone a long way towards a side that will beat other teams.

On Sidebottom, I don't think he's done terribly poorly, if he had one more wicket for the match he'd have broken even. It looks like he isn't fit, though. Some bowlers can carry a lot of injuries, but most shouldn't. It's been a ******* of a series for both teams and they are both showing it. Probably one thing that is proving the difference is that South Africa have been good at spreading loads, while England have typically seen a couple of bowlers run into the ground each innings. In this match, England had a bowler reach 30 overs both times, while no South African made it past 21. Fresh legs could be key at The Oval, though it will be fought only for pride.

Say what you will, but The Smith Factor has again presented and remains undefeated. If he had gotten out before his hundred, England probably would have had a very good chance, but so long as he was there, they couldn't win. By carrying bat, he not only led his team to a memorable victory, but also put up what is far and away the highest score for the second digs at Edgbaston.

This is probably one of those times where this forum's demographics work badly. We have only a few South Africans and so many of the defacto South African supporters have their own reasons for watching England get beat. As a result, we don't have a lot of people praising the 2nd best team in world cricket, only a lot of lambasting and criticism for England. To be honest, it really shouldn't be surprising that South Africa have a little mettle for a tight situation.

Obviously you can't over-analyse South Africa because they've been playing consistent cricket while England have had inconsistent patches, but in a perfect world we'd still have things to talk about for both sides. Will Nel hold his spot at the expense of Ntini? What about Harris? Surely 5 pacemen is too many. Will Steyn be fit in time? What about Smith's fitness?

Anyways, a very good game to watch.

england need to take a hard look at their playing 11,they need the likes of hoggard and jones back.

Urgh, guys i did not say this a forum for Englishmen only, in what way did i say that? I said this is an English based forum, which means it is based in England.

since Zemrio doesn't understand, this is the meaning of based.

I was simple trying to say that it is not suprising if a few of the English users get a bit cheesed off with people coming here (here being the England v South Africa thread) and gloating at their demise. I don't understand how a human being can translate that too Gas thinks this forum is for English people only.

Don't worry Gas, I knew what you meant. I was just trying to appease with zMario. He'd argue black was white would that lad.

Superb from Smith today, that should be in the cricketing dictionary under 'Captain's innings'.

Ladies, ladies, hold on to your handbags....

Good win for South Africa. England, on the other hand, have some serious thinking to do. They lack quality batsmen, and I don't know how that can be sorted, tbh. Cook, Bell, and Pietersen look world class; the rest are shoddy.

And right after the Ashes, with that same line-up (minus Simon Jones), were thrashed by Pakistan...

What did it for England was that all their batsmen (including Vaughan) were in good form.

Now, Vaughan is playing as a specialist fielder, Strauss can't buy a 50 (he keeps getting starts!), and Cook can't get a big 100.

Only reliable batsmen in that line-up are Bell and Pietersen..

That post had some creditability until the last line.

You know I just don't understand this. Why suddenly a victory by SA is marred by this attitude from individual(s) who believe that no one else has anything or should post anthing if it is not in favor on England??
Just what is it that I said to could have gotten you guys whinners up?? Is this you all ways for venting anger and fustration at defeat? If such is the case then take it to the players and ECB, don't come in here and try to brand me!!!

You make this ridiculous baseless claims, venting your anger against English fans since you quite clearly have a bone to grind and then wonder why we're upset.

Ever since Bell scored the double ton and screwed up falling one short of a test double hundred he has looked our best batsmen

Collingwood is world class. He may not be a traditional batsman but he's done it against the very best.

South Africa out-played us but we could have and should have won this. Our bwlers, expecially Sidebottom, looked tired. Their paces were well down.

Before I get shot-down for using the umpiring as an excuse, it's not but it was absolutely poor this match.

Yeah, for about 30 runs.

Well South Africa are on a roll arent they? Drew with India in India and now beaten England in England. Now its up for the final task - the Aussies is Aussieland.

England are actually rubbish in ODIs, so that series is pretty much done and dusted.

No, we're not. We're not Aus, India, SA, NZ level (boy that does make us sound poor) but we are a good side.

England played very good cricket Day 2 onwards. We missed a few chances but, as I said, we could easily have beaten them. We just lacked the penetration of a fast bowling unit.

Plus, the only fans that should be gloating are from SA, Aus or SL since no-one else has been doing too well lately.

Okay then name me a batsmen that has looked better then Bell in the England team!?!?
