South Africa in England

A surefire sign that he's on his way to India methinks. Maybe all Harmison really needed was a new man in charge?

I think its got a lot to do with KP. He put his faith in Harmison, Harmy needs to feel wanted and part of the team i think. Vaughan had reservations about Harmy, but KP could bring the best out of him. Lets hope KP can bring the best out of Shah and other players.

KP commands respect for his natural talent, and confidence. Could be a great appointment for England in terms of getting the best out of our players.

Pietersen will get the best out of the players. He sets himself such high standards that he will want his team to live up to. If someone like Strauss or Cook was chosen as captain then we'd just have Michael Vaughan Mk II and nothing would change. Pietersen's going to assert himself on the team and get them playing attack, exciting cricket. He certainly seems to have had a positive effect on Harmison, he was brilliant in the final Test, and to get him to come out of ODi retirement is a big step.

Could this possibly mean a long rest for Sidebottom ? He was seen as the go to bowler 2 months ago, but now with Jimmy, Harmison and Freddie all firing, will be hard to leave him out. I'm sure if Jones was fit he'd make up the test attack alongside Monty. An attack of Harmison, Flintoff, Anderson, Jones and Panesar sure looks tasty. Especially if KP can get the batters playing properly and scoring consistant runs.

Great to see Harmison back in the ODI's he seems to be back with it so to speak saying his family are settled and he's ready to tour. Hes the type of player we're missing in ODI at the moment a real wicket taker.

A few new men, even. A lot has changed since 2006. It's hard to say who thought what behind the scenes, who was most instrumental in his retirement and who was likewise most vocal in urging him to return. It's just as hard to say whether the selectors want him to prove himself or feel he is already proven.

It's a sensible direction to head in, even if he has been a fairly average one day player to date.

Was Harmison really ever any good away from England in ODIs, though? Outside of England in ODIs, he has 20 wickets at 45.55 with an economy of 5.74 - is this really the bowler that England want to tour with the ODI team? People may suggest that this is caused by recent mental problems, but the trend of being a weak ODI tourist has stretched throughout his career, merely worsening by 2006.

Or perhaps it was Bob Willis (scaring the bejesus out of me) talking at the camera, presuming Harmison is watching, to urge him to return to ODI cricket.

Haha, I love it when Bob does that. He seriously doesn't know where he should be looking when he's talking on screen, and keeps switching his head from the presenter to the camera. He's not only scary, but always sounds and looks incredibly pissed.

What would be everyone's team for tommorow then ? Mine would be:

Bell
Prior
Shah
Pietersen (wants to bat at 4 apparently, even if he would be better off at 3)
Bopara
Flintoff
Wright
Swann
Broad
Harmison
Anderson

I reckon that will be the XI aswell, be surprised if there are any changes to that. The only one I think could happen would be Samit Patel or Alastair Cook coming in for Graeme Swann or Luke Wright respectively. I'd go for the team above though personally.

I think thats the exact squad I'd go for. possibly with Samit Patel in for Luke Wright if the pitch offers something for the spinners

Lol. Yes, I've noticed that too and that awkward look he gives when they show all three presenters. A sort of "hello, children" look.

Bob Willis is Francis Griffin from Family Guy;

It's a fact.

Hmm, I reckon we could be faced with a wash-out tomorrow. Maybe we might get a reduced overs game in.

Oh ffs behave God. Let us have some cricket.

And on that slightly blasphemus note, I want Prior to play well tomorrow. I liked him a lot before he got the old butterfingers disease. Never have I doubted his batting though.

Harmison has made a smart move. It's obvious he has to keep playing when he's in good form and rhythm to continue it. I also think he's dangerous again if he bowls like he did in the first test and can be dangerous in ODIs.

I'd pick the same side King Pietersen named. Shah deserves a crack up the order and Bopara seems more like a lower order player. You want players at 3 and 4 who can play both aggressively when there's a good start and who can nudge the ball around and accumulate when they're in trouble.

He's been doing well for Durham in the OD stuff this year. 20w @19 in the FPT. 5@18 in 2 Pro40 games.

I'd say he is in better form now, than he was when he was in possession of the gloves.
