South Africa in England

Is this really happening? We're not dreaming? We're actually trashing the second best ODI team for real! Come on, lads! Two more wins and we'll be the second placed team! We are really playing some out of this world cricket at the moment.

They have lost 3 on trot!! What is happening?? They (SA) are making mistakes,Batting is not clicking, but Patel bowled well in his bowling quota.

The one area we still haven't fully sorted is the opening partnership. Bell and Prior look in nick but we still don't have a century-making opener or even one that that makes 50s. Neither of them even look close to making 100s (even though Bell made 70+, I always thought he'd lose his wicket cheaply). Unless, the openers do make hundreds, I feel 320+ will always be out of the question.

Sorry, 3 Opening partnerships all of 50+. I don't know how anyone can even contemplate changing the team after thrashing South Africa in 3 consecutive ODi's. If we start to play badly again then fair enough changing the team, but we'd be mad to change the team now.

I said it before and I'll say it again: the powerplays are(In general) no longer for thrashing the ball around. They are for briskly, but not recklessly, building a platform for the rest of the team. Hats off to the two they have done it well, though there are clear areas for improvement with Prior's suspect shot selection and Bell's inability to work singles.

I didn't say anything about changing the team. I merely suggested they make more hundreds.

Aye, and we're still a but dodgy in the middle overs too.
I guess it still depends somewhat on how long Pietersen and Collingwood spend out there. They're the ones who are most adept at working the ball around and so the more of the middle they bat through, the less momentum can be lost.

I agree with Yogy, i reckon england might just be able to clean sweep the series 5-0, the new skipper has made a huge difference, and with the new likes of Samit Patel who is an excellent future prospect for England, England might just make it a whitewash.

With Steve Harmison and Matt Prior, returning to the squad it's a good sign that the team can climb the ODI Rankings, Prior I think has been very impressive behind the stumps, especially the catch in the 2nd ODI, and his batting has been superb.

The opening partnership was a worry, but i think it has been solved with Ian Bell and Prior being a great combination, Prior the agressor, and Bell who can work his way through the innings.

Oh dear. It's wet, wet, wet. Forecast doesn't look good. But Lord's does have some fantastic drainage. It'll be reduced overs, if we get any play at all.
