South Africa in England

It's a new era, Matt. One we've started with a 100% record, and put in 4 very good performances in against a strong side. Although, I think many people, including myself, are showing happiness towards the England ODI team, not just England.

Oh don't get me wrong im well happy with the current state of afairs, but I never like it when any of ours fans start to become cocky and arrogant about the team. I like to keep my feet on the ground and have a level headed approach. Even if we go on to win 5-0 it will mean nothing if we go to India and lose the Tests.

As good as Samit Patel is playing, I don't like him.

I was at The Oval today, and every time he came down to 3rd Man we gave him a brilliant clap and he didn't once acknowledge us! Most players give a little wave or something but we got sod-all out of him!

Apart from that, not a bad performance from England :)

Ah fair enough, my apologies :p. He's right, South Africa look incredibly average, as I said in the last post, are a batsman and a quality bowler short. Steyn can't bowl with a white ball, Nel and Ntini are over the hill, Morkel's got raw talent, Albie Morkel actually looked pretty impressive, Botha looks average, Kallis just bowls like Kallis. Boucher doesn't look good enough atm, Kallis is desperately struggling in England, Gibbs can't find consistency, Smith is injured, Duminy inexperienced and AB De Villiers can't score against England in ODi's. Doesn't look a great team atm, certainly not one that was above Australia 18 months or so ago. Funny how times can change so quickly, especially considering England's resurgance, 2nd in the world would be incredibly harsh on the rest of the world though, there's no chance we've been the 2nd best team in the world because of 1 series.

Patel might be just who we're looking for in ODI cricket. Someone who can make runs in the middle order and get through 10 overs of spin in the middle of the innings. He threatened the batsmen with changes of pace and a bit of drift.

Great to see Freddie back to his old self with the bat. Back at 5 in the order and playing innings like he did 4 years ago.

I'm also excited about the quartet of pace bowlers. Anderson, Broad, Flintoff and Harmison all bowl over 85MPH and give the captain some fire power.

Probably was in awe at what he had just done ;)

Might have been having just been concentrating as He was really nice when I went to a Twenty20 game earlier this season and was constantly signing autographs.

Don't know what you English did to change your ODI fortunes but it seems 1 captain change and now England is setting the cricket world on fire.

Success is there to be celebrated. You enjoyed the Ashes win, did you not? Our win in Mumbai in 2006? Our SL ODI series win last winter?

I think people should treat the ODI and Test teams separately, after all, they are very different disciplines.

I'll reserve judgment 'till we go to India. If we win the Test series over there i'll personally see to it that our Kev gets a knighthood.

And Flintoff and Harmison are back in the mix. Plus, so far in this series, a solid opening partnership. More than just one thing. But KP is the main thing. He brings more energy to the side than a million bananas!

You'r misunderstanding me slightly. By all means revel on these victories, but what i'm getting at is that we should be humble about it. There's nothing worse than an arrogant sports fan. It's an exciting time to be an England cricket fan but im not going to delude myself into thinking we're a world class side just yet.

That's only because the chimp you stole them from will chase you!

Seriously, I think it's down to Potassium poisoning. I think you'd be more likely to be sick before it caused you any real harm. I think one banana is just about enough, two and I'd feel quite sick.

They would give the gloves to AB and either put Van wyk or Ontong (Sp?)

Pointless to put AB as wk and then play Van Wyk, AB is one of the best (if not, the best) fielders in the world.
