South Africa in England

I have just managed to watch the Sky+ and I tell you what, that is one of the best performances I have seen from England in a long, long time.

Bell and Prior looked in great touch, placing and timing the shots greatly, Shah looked like he has potential, he was just a tad off the pace today, KP Im not going to slag the guy off today about his performance because everyone has a bad day, and today was his, he played brilliantly in the last 2 games, so I can't fault him. Freddie is back, that is that! :)

Samit Patel is a right ripper, he is quality, good up and coming bowler, and it looks like Monty is going to have a fight on his hands to get back his ODI place.

Overall, Simply Stunning England!

Well done lads!

anyway back on topic, English side is way much inferior to SA and will lose the fourth one as well. English guys and fans think they are too good which they are not. You can make as many changes as you can in your side, but you guys won't win a single match for sometime.

Shame Arunava hasn't been around for some time...

lol..Of course.Everybody who are anti England just owned.:clap
Awesome from England.KP just has given us indication that We can expect something from the team when they will tour India.
Just an unassailable 3-0 series lead,Now Answer that?

the proteas need to make some changes to their batting line up,they should try sending albie up the order.

Best side in the world. If you're rude enough to go and win the tests.

ruthless is what we need too, KP has always had it but in the past few series we've had our chances and not taken them, even in Australia 5-0. We certainly had enough chances to make it not a whitewash. Last day batting. Ashley Giles dropping Ricky Ponting. Can't see it hapening under KP.

Good to see the Leicester lads with 2 5fers in 2 as well :D

Stuart was born in Nottingham ;)

I find it interesting how many speak of Patel as an up and coming spinner. His main suit is batting. Though in the shorter format he is effective in both disciplines. Crafty OD bowler. Averages 46 with bat in FC! Got a long career with England, I feel.

Now now boys, let's not get all big headed. We've won a few odi's but let's not forget that we've lost the last 3 major Test series in a row and we were run pretty close by NZ both home and away too. When we start beating these teams again then you may start to gloat if you want.

We've hammered the 2nd best team in the world, with 3 comprehensive victories. The team seem to have a different mentality under Pietersen, they seem more upbeat in the field, he's got Harmison bowling well and bowling in ODis again, Freddie can now bat, and we're playing with belief. The ODi's are supposed to be South Africa's premier form of the game, and they've been thrashed by England.

Samit Patel was immense today, looked good with the bat, and very useful with the ball. Could be a potential replacement for Colly in the test side if he hits poor form again.

Also, felt this had to be said, Johann Botha is an ugly mother. Looks like a burns victim :p

Just hope we don't go off the boil for the last 2, win 5-0 and we go 2nd in the world. Bit of an up turn considering the crap we were playing under Vaughan in 2007 in the World Cup.

Wow, England are carving them up. Pretty bad for South Africa. They're poor with bat and ball. They don't seem to have a lot of fight in them. They look weak on paper too. If they were going up against Bangladesh tomorrow i'd almost have my money on Bangladesh.

You have to say, Pietersen is doing a great job as captain. Now's the chance for England to show some balls and win the series 5-0 rather than have mercy and give up. I bet it's been a very very long time since England's won an ODI series 5-0.

2nd by rankings, but on paper this side looks very average. I disagree with the second comment, South Africa have been good in both over the passed few years but it's been their test side which has been the stronger suit.

The comment about Botha was a bit rude and uncalled for.

Side looks average ? We bat down to 9, have Freddie batting well, have a good opening partnership forming, Pietersen on form, Samit Patel offering spin options and batting, 4 World Class bowling options in ODi cricket. We no longer rely on just Flintoff and Pietersen to get the runs, and then Flintoff to pick up the wickets. We're fielding better than South Africa, have a dynamic and exciting captain and look a far better side than even the side that played New Zealand. Where's the weakness in the side ?

South Africa's ODi team has been their strong suit, they were top of the rankings last year, before the world cup iirc. They looked a quality ODi outfit, with the likes of Pollock, Hall, Langeveldt, Kemp, and they also had Ntini and Nel on form. They still don't have a bad side, but they've been outclassed by England, pure and simple. They look a batsman short, but yet the bowling isn't brilliant. You'd expect if the team was a batter short that they'd have a good bowling attack, but frankly it isn't brilliant. This year their test side is their strong suit, but in the 18 months prior to this series I'm sure they'd have claimed that ODi's are their strong suit.

As for the Botha comment, heard of a joke ?

It's a new era, Matt. One we've started with a 100% record, and put in 4 very good performances in against a strong side. Although, I think many people, including myself, are showing happiness towards the England ODI team, not just England.

Dan, he meant SA side looks weak on paper.

South Africa look average on paper is what I meant. One of the commentators said Boucher looked to high at 6. They look light on batting. Steyn's record is horrible as well. He needs to be sent back into domestic to gain ODI bowling skills.
