South Africa in England

Snicko says yes, Hot spot says no. I still dunno if he hit that. He should have got the benefit of the doubt maybe.
There was a noise, may have been a creak in the handle though. I think the 3rd umpire would have overturned it, but it did look like the finest of edges.

Do you get angry about Pietersen, though? To me that seems to have popped up off the pad very hard, harder than you'd expect off the pad. It seems he didn't hit it, but it turns out that if he had not been given out, he would have dodged one hell of a plumb lbw. Technicality would have broken that one.

It wasn't a sharp wave, snicks are usually much bigger and so the handle is plausible, it has been seen (and heard) before. From a referral perspective, the 3rd umpire quite likely wouldn't have given it.

Right that's it. get Vaughan out of the team. He is crap. I don't give a damn if he is a good captain, he is a liability at number 3, and needs to be replaced by Shah or Bopara :noway So much pressure on Bell and Colly to perform now

Hmmm, it isn't wise to drop your captain after 5 bad innings, especially since he is coming off a good home series against New Zealand and had a fine 2007.

I'd much rather KP,Strauss or maybe Flintoff were captaining with Bopara, Shah or anybody that will get runs replacing Vaughan

If KP or Flintoff becomes Captain it will be so much worse.

KP is too much of a Egotistical prick to be captain.

I don't see why it would be so much worse Pietersen did ok in the one ODI match hes taken charge of and is second in command to Collingwood in the ODI matches and Collingwood often looks to him when setting fields.
KP has a type of charisma and abbrasiveness to suceed as a captain IMO.

It's not merely a question of short term form, it's a question of what sort of output do you need to be England's number 3 batsman.

Last 12 months 614 runs at 27.90
Last 2 years 1107 runs at 36.90
Last 3 years 1508 runs at 35.90
Last 4 years 2036 runs at 35.71
Last 5 years 3153 runs at 36.24

I mean, that's pretty much as badly Rahul Dravid has been doing in the past year or two and it's a massive form slump. At what point is it not actually considered form?

Yeah, as much as it pains me to say it Vaughan is no longer the player he was. England will keep playing him though for at least a few more years. :noway

If you are talking about what output is needed to bat three, then why not take his averages at three?
Last 12 months: 269 at 29.44
Last 2 years: 758 at 44.58
Last 3 years: 1087 at 41.80
Last 4 years: 1258 at 41.93
Last 5 years: 1258 at 41.93 (Didn't bat at three five years ago)

Hmmm...

Pietersen is Kallis' bunny. End of.

Only been watching this 5 minutes. Been in the hospital all morning and not one fo the nurses would check the cricket score for me. Vaughan was a bit unlucky but he seems to be swarmed with bad luck really. And that's the 4th time he's been out to a beauty this series. You can't really say he's given his wicket away at any point in this series.
