It shall be a big boost to Champions League.

A close match between Real Madrid and Getafe yesterday especially with Arbeloa getting a red card in the last 10 minutes. And seriously, I wonder how long will this go before Barcelona and/or Real Madrid start dropping points in one of the future matches. Both of them just keep winning.

By the way, where is m_vaughan? Haven't seen him in a while.

Got bored with the site? He only really posted in this thread.

Xavi became the joint most capped Barcelona player of all time against Levante. He completed more passes than all of the Levante side put together lol. Amazing player, by far the best midfielder of our generation, and I'd argue the best of all time.

Isn't he into cricket too?

Yeah. He can possibly do it for another 3-5 years.

The thing is Xavi was a late bloomer, but yes he has developed into a fantastic player. Some people compare him Pep, but thats ridiculous since Pep was nasty with his tackles.

Bilbao have a chance to knock Barca out tonight. I can see that happening to be honest.

I think that's a bit of an unfair criticism of him. I think he was brilliant when he was younger as well, just not appreciated as much. Pep's career ended early because the ball-playing midfielder just wasn't used anymore, and creator/destroyer partnerships were preferred, this definitely didn't help Xavi's cause. Then under Rijkaard he liked to use van Bommel and Cocu as two destroyers behind a linker and then the front three to do as they pleased. It was only under Guardiola that he was given a proper chance to shine.

Despite everything he was still an excellent player. His awareness, from the beginning of his career was truly amazing - better than that of Zidane's I think. I've never seen such an intelligent footballer.

Ha ha unfortunately it wasn't to happen guys . Barca thrive on the away goals rule which I guess is something new to them considering the last 5 years .

No it isn't. They knocked Chelsea out of the Champions League in 2008-09 thanks to the away goal rule and a Norwegian bloke.

But Abidal? Seriously??

Precisely. We should have won back then!

Anyway, playing Athletic Bilbao at San Mames is never easy but Barcelona has the slight advantage because of the away goal rule(again!) which in the end sees them progress.

EDIT: Take a look at this. :lol

Real Madrid / Mourinho slipped in a match

Even a God can slip.

Our second string got beat by Levante last night, but in all fairness the game deserved a 0-0. We so have to sign a striker atleast on loan till the end of the season - I hope the Osvaldo rumours have some truth in them.

El Derbi in the QFs, which I believe is next week itself (first leg)!

Everyone put on Madrid-Villareal, absolutely fantastic game so far. End to end quick tempo, with brilliant passing and movement from both sides.

Villarreal were brilliant against Barca, and they were even better against us last night. Santi Cazorla is a fine fine player - excellent movement, distribution and also has pace.

But just like against Barca, they were not able to keep up the momentum for the whole 90 minutes. I thought they went on the defensive way too early, and we capitalised on that.

I am not convinced with our overall performance, but certainly the players showed character in turning the game around. Three important points won which keeps us within 2 of Barca.

A good game at the Bernabeau yesterday and Ronaldo's second goal just before half time was definitely crucial in the win.
