Sri Lanka in England/Netherlands

Well with the form KP is in England probably won't need much else from the batting. KP in full flight in an ODI is one dangerous sign. If their bowlers can back him up they should go just fine in the ODIs.

I agree with Sureshot. Wouldn't rule England totally out of this game. If they can remove the tail cheaply and chase a total around 300-310 and KP continues his fine form then I would back England, though one of the openers need to make a handy score and Strauss is due for one. Will certainly be great to see Murali v Pietersen again on a turning track and will be interesting to see who will win this round.

Nice stuff from Panesar. Hes a hell of a lot better then Giles, now I wanna see him in ODI's. Was a nice 5 wicket bag, even though a few were gimmes. He should have opened the bowling this morning with Plunkett, not the best captaincy really, those runs SL got this morning have made this chase look a lot more daunting. England will have to bat really well to get this one. They will be up against Murili.

Not sure you'll see him in ODI's, think he's too much of a liability where catching and batting are concerned. He can get away with it for awhile in Test's but I don't think so in ODI's.

Yes I agree, he is a very good spinner in tests but he doesn't really have the temperament or the concentration for ODI's. I'd have Blackwell for his ability to score runs down the order.

The England ODI squad doesn't really have many match winners.

Rubbish.

Tres
KP
Harmison (He might come back for them)
Blackwell (Potentially)
Freddie

I'll be interested to see who plays as the batsman, as I doubt Cook will play.

Monty averages around 21 this series with 10 wickets, very economical too.

For the ODIs, nah, I'd keep Blackwell for them.

Back to today.

We need 2 centurions from the top 6, maybe Jones, although unlikely.

I think Sri Lanka needed some more runs to the total.

But the commentary I am reading Sri Lankan bowlers are giving the England openers some problems.

I'd have Collingwood as the batsman. Bell could play in the 20:20 International.

Colly is already in the team.

For the ODIs we will have the current top 7 minus Cook, so who replaces him?

I'd opt for Joyce.

As I said, I would have Ian Bell. In India some of the knocks he played we're very good. I think he is a very tidy player who very much relys on confidence. Being selected would really increase his confidence.
