Sri Lanka in England/Netherlands

Yes I agree, he is a very good spinner in tests but he doesn't really have the temperament or the concentration for ODI's. I'd have Blackwell for his ability to score runs down the order.

That doesn't really make sense....those traits are essentials for test cricket- not necessarily ODI cricket- and he's already shown how he can cope mentally with the longer version of the game. I sorta agree with the fact that he would be a massive liability in the field due to the fast nature of one-day cricket and how every run is absolutely vital, but with regards to temperament and concentration, I'd say he's covered those two very well for an emerging sportsman.
By the way, I know of Joyce, but was just wondering; how does he go about it with the bat? I mean, does he look to score early and impose himself on the opposition, or ease into his innings, etc...

Trescothick and Strauss seem pretty comfortable now aster a very shaky start. Tressie is picking a couple of 'doosras'.

I sort of meant concentration in the field. He does seem a bit lazy and it looks like he is slightly day-dreaming. In ODIs you need to be alert and have to save every run. I'd have him in the One Day team now because I've found out Blacky is out.

Tres gone 84-1

Dissapointing as he is our best batsman for centuies, Doosra from Murali hitting off stump. But still partnerships are the key, 3 more like that and we win.

Blackwell is out for most of the season.

Oh yeh I remember him on Cricket AM, that's a big blow.

Udal will probably get the role.

Loudon maybe? Genuine all rounder with 5 fors this season.

This really is a match now.

England 114/3 with Cook and Strauss now gone.

And so far Muralitharan has got all the wickets in the second innings.

Yes it is very evenly matched. Sri Lanka is probably favourites due to the Murali factor. If Colly can battle through the pain and KP does what he's been doing all series. We can really put the Lankans under pressure.

EDIT:KP out to Murali, it might be the final nail in the coffin.
EDIT:Fred is out. This is a huge collapse. Sri Lanka have secured it noiw.

Game all but over now with Flintoff out. Well done Sri Lanka, thoroughly deserve to win this match.

This reminds me of the first ashes test, Trescothick and Strauss getting us off to a good start and then we collapsed.

I was thinking the same thing. I am incredibly gutted at the moment. Murali is a magician.

Murali you absolute legend. Six wickets now and he has single-handedly won the match for Sri Lanka.

In the process he has also notched up his 100th 5-for.

Oh dear. But to be honest Sri Lanka have deserved this game. The big moment was at Lords, not taking our chances, we should have beat them easily there. Very strange how the pitch has been playing at Trent Bridge, on Friday and Saturday it looked quite flat, but has not played up to that.

I agree with you about the similarity between this match and the first Ashes Test.

Also, apart from Panesar, who could we play in the ODI's. Loudon and Batty maybe, Loudon is unproven and Batty hasn't done that much before.

This run chase has an all too familiar feeling for england. If ever there's an advertisment for the aussie selectors to play Macgill in brisbane this is it....no matter how high tech their bowling machines are, the poms are still mesmerised by quality spin.

WICKET: 132-7, Muralitharan bowls Jones with a beauty, this is embarassing.

The chase is still on as Hoggy hits a four lol, this game is set for some Monty heroics.

Absolutely appauling performance from England's batsmen - Murali is a brilliant spinner and all but they have 1 1/2 days to get 300+ runs, they can take as long as they want and just stay in.

One of the worst batting performances I have ever seen from England and I am appauled :(

Great heart shown by Sri Lanka this series. If anything, this shows that England save their best only for Australia.

Muralitharan chasing after Jim Laker's record now.

EDIT: RUN OUT :( :(
