Sri Lanka in England/Netherlands

I generally don't agree with openers being captains anyway. They have enough on their plate as it is.

Sri Lanka are off to another flier. 1/86 after 13 overs. Vikram Solanki is in.

Jayawardene dropped twice, tough chance to JD but Bell should have caught his chance at backward square leg.

102-1 from 15 overs.

We're bowling poorly, but Sri Lanka are being incredibly aggresive, jumping around the crease like bunnies with dynamite up their arse.

I wish Fox Sports were covering all this game. I have to wait until about 10:30 PM.

Sri Lanka 108/1 (16.0 ov)

Sri Lanka is hammering England again. Jayawardene with 41 runs of 25 balls and only 4 fours, so he ran a lot.

So the joke that is the England ODI team continues to humour the Sri Lankan's. Two dropped catches (Dalrymple's apparently fairly hard), nine wides and the usual shoddy bowling. Atleast there's one positive to come from this game, Sajid Mahmood is carrying the drinks!

I can see us having to chase atleast 330, if not more.

We've bowled slightly better.

The Sri Lankans were attacking like mad, to an extent like you would in the last 10-15 overs.

Man, is the Sri Lankan top 3 good or what, Jaywardene is probably one of the best batsmen in ODI cricket around. You can't afford to drop him. Twice even, maybe one was only a half chance, the other was crucial.

Theres been quite a few chips in the air and close to being catchable hits but its positive and aggressive batting. Good on Sri Lanka. They can't lose the series. Destroy the bowlers.

The bowling has been poor. Everyone so far. Really worrying for England.

Shame to the selector's. Seems that all the selector's around the world are getting stupider. Last year bowling was England's main strength but with this current bowling attack tbh it isn't better then Bangladesh or even Kenya. Bresnan and Plunkett surely have to be dropped for Lewis and Gough in the next series against Pakistan. Really Plunkett has had more than enough chances and have failed. Don't know why the selectors are still persisting with him.

England were indeed. Sri Lanka have looked average since. England are back in it with some better bowling from Plunkett and Dalrymple. (however you spell it)

Got it right irottev.

GoJo misses another stumping.

Why oh why is he in the team?

Not easy but still.

Edit:

Ntl are useless, skipping so much atm.

The English bowling attack is looking completely out of sorts in ODI cricket .
After the 5-1 thrashing in India and 4-1 in Pakistan, I expected them to be better at home (English weather being cooler than the ones in India and Pakistan)
I don`t think you have a great chance of winning with 2 spinners on English tracks against Asian teams.
England have to sort their troubles now before it is too late for the mega event next year.
Bringing in Jimmie Anderson.Goughie or Kabir Ali would help, maybe.
He is certainly a wickettaker.
Plunkett has done absolutely nothing to deserve a place in the side after last winter`s ODI performances.

Sri Lanka, however have turned things on dramatically after the 6-1 defeat in India and 4-1 in NZ to register impressive performances in the VB series and now here.
Pakistan will be a lot lot tougher and England will be the underdogs in that series.

It is high tim England now begin to take cricket other than th Ashes series as seriously as the Ashes (especially the ODIs)
ODI teams all over th world are now as competitive as they were ever before.
India,Pakistan,SRL,SA,NZ all possess the ability to win the world cup and now even the Windies have showed improvement in the recent series.

I just got home from school, hoping for a good England perfromance, and I find that once again, our bowlers are pathetic! I'm sorta glad I wasn't able to be at the ground today. Hopefully, at least one of our batsmen can reach a hundred, so we have some chance of winning this match.
