Sri Lanka tour of India - November/December 2017

We can't actually tell that from TV because the camera lights and settings have been adjusted to give the best possible view but Air quality definitely is a major issue all across Delhi this year and that can be evident from the players wearing mask.
The air quality is so bad that the SL players had to wear masks during the drinks break and at one point Lakmal threw up a bit as well. Something needs to be done in Delhi with making improvements with the air quality.

Very happy that Sri Lanka has brought a lot more spotlight on Delhi's air quality. Thanks! I know many of my Indian brothers and sisters will take it as an insult due to their overtly patriotic feelings, but Delhi has been scary dangerous with its air quality levels in the past few months and Sri Lanka reacting like this brings a lot more media and international exposure to the issue, which is only going to help Delhi clean up the mess it has created for itself.

Thank you Sri Lanka! If I were part of Sri Lankan Cricket Board, I would take this issue up higher and ask why is a game scheduled in a city which poses a risk to their player's health and possibly life?

P.s: And FYKI, I am a very patriotic Indian who still holds an Indian passport and possibly has more patriotism for the country than the people who live in India.

What a load of turd! I'm not denying that the situation in Delhi is poor, but, SL are a pathetic lot. Why were these blokes not wearing a mask while batting? I've played enough cricket to know that batting is much more tiring than fielding!

SL knew yesterday itself that their best bet was a draw. So, they took an issue and made it look worse than it was. Mind you, it's their board that begged for this series. This sort of planning should be done by their board and manager. The Indians created little to no fuss today. In these 6 tests, every time there has been the slightest chance to get off the park, SL have looked desperately pathetic to do so. They're so hopeless they didn't even know they were playing with ten blokes at one point!

The fact that this is the most amount of drama we've come across in these 6 tests speaks volumes about the Lankans. To escape a humiliating loss, they decided to 'mask' it by insulting a country's capital that tried to help them out by hosting them before a vital trip to SA.

Some people here are saying thank you to SL.

In no way am I saying that the air situation is contributing to SL's awful performance. Do you have any idea how things even are in Delhi? People are forced to stay indoors and kids sometimes can't even go to school. What you are talking is a bunch of crap that is mostly based on SL's hapless performance. Conditions need to be safe for players to play and all this toxic air is not safe to even breathe in. This environment cannot be compared to Sri Lanka's performance, but health of the players needs to be put first above anything. And on top of that, you think they are deliberately insulting the Indian capital when all this pollution going on in Delhi is true.

Educate yourself other than blasting out against a team whose players aren't feeling well in this pollution and thinking they are acting to look Delhi seem like an awful place.

Its douchery to blame Sri Lankan players for this. The pollution in Delhi is a fact and its not at all safe. I am happy this got brought into media and I really hope it strikes with the government. I am sad to say that it has to strike the government, central or state both have to be equally responsible. Sri Lanka are pathetic but them wearing mask for their own protection cannot be blamed. Talent is on one side and health on other.

Perhaps, even Ganguly is an absolute joke. Some people over here find it difficult to read. I clearly said that the situation at Delhi needs to change. BUT, was it as bad as it was made out to be by SL? Absolutely not! The Indians fielded for 44 overs just fine. Yes, they had a bit of trouble too but it was blown out of proportion far too much!

Not one person here has explained the critical question I asked which Ganguly does as well? Why were the masks off with bats in hand? It was a clear cut case of someone using a serious issue in a nation's capital to escape their pathetic performance!

We are slowly drifting away from the topic. Why should we go on and insult each others country ? It's a cricket forum and let's discuss about cricket. I didn't tell anything till now because it was all part of discussion. But the above post clearly crosses the line little bit.

^ And FYI, none of his mates will 'ban' you just because he says so. If there is anything wrong with any of the post by anyone, the 'ban' will come automatically. So, please let's stick to the topic and other posts which insults each other will be deleted from now on.

Few posts have been deleted because it was not appropriate. If you want clarification for the deletion, PM me or if you want I can tell it in public.

Both of you, take a deep breathe and come back later and continue 'cricket' discussion.

Fair judgement. I knew what I was doing when I responded to him. But, the fact that you deleted his post also is all I wanted to see.

@kushal17 Kuldeep Yadav wore a face mask while bringing drinks.

Read where I wrote the Indians also faced issues. But, fact is they had a batsman who batted 2.5 hours after batting a full day yesterday. They also sent down half of those 44 overs with seamers.

I don't care what anyone wears and plays as long as they play. No one here is wanting to see people get hurt. BUT, the Indians are not blessed with some sort of super power to have managed the situation. It's a battle between the same species. SL may have had some issues, but it was 100% blown out of proportion. How come all of a sudden Matthews and Chandimal didn't require a face mask while batting? Did Delhi suddenly become Dharamsala?

The agenda here is not air quality in Delhi. We all know it's bad. The point is that SL exploited that to kill time and make sure India didn't completely knock them out of the test match. Your bringing up K Yadav is absolutely hilarious! He's not even playing the test match. He could be wearing a mask, a sports bra and a stiletto with it for all I care because it had no bearing on today's game.

Funny how Bharat Arun says Kohli didn't need a mask even though he batted two days. Kohli is a home boy and knows Delhi at the back of his hand. His body should be more accustomed to the Delhi weather than the people coming from outside the country. I am pretty sure if someone from outside the Delhi area (say for example from the South or even from the East, say Bengal) visit Delhi and have an average to decent immune system, they will fall sick due to the pollution existing in Delhi. And yes we should agree that Sri Lanka staying for so long on the field made things worse for them because it is their entire team who has to bear that pollution because they are the ones fielding outside for so so so long. And it is very much justified when they dont complain while batting because only two players are playing out there while the rest take shelter inside the dressing room.

Nothing wrong in the way SL reacted. Delhi's downward slide in the recent past has been so dramatic what with the increase in the amount of rape cases that hits national attention and this 'air pollution saga'. And its sad that this city is the capital of India.

Agree with thid. Sl was completely fine in their reaction!
