India v Guyana - One Day Friendly

A very good looking pitch, with even bounce and a slight bit of turn that will increase during the game. With a lightning fast outfield it looked like the captain that wins the toss would bat first.

Well Dravid got down to the middle and chose tails. The coin landed down on tails and he instantly chose to bat to bat on a very flat track against a rather weak bowling attack. The team for the game is as follows:

Instantly the two Indian openers, Dravid and Uthappa started off quickly out of the blocks and smashed to 50 in just 9.2 overs. The 2nd powerplay was taken after 10 overs with the score on 53-0 and India cruising. Then after 11.4 overs uthappa got caught playing back to spinner McGarell and was hit on the pad in front of the stumps and in-line. The umpires finger stayed down and it seemed uthappa and got the bit of look he was looking for to enable him to kick on and make a big score. But 5 balls alter Uthappa was gone, caught behind by Christian off the bowling of King for 20. He had never really looked that settled and headed back to the pavilion with a disappointing total. Gambhir was next in and a good 2nd powerplay for Guyana picking up 14-1 in the 5 overs. The 3rd powerplay was instantly taken and Droved picked up his 50 from just 61 balls. At the end of the three powerplays the score had moved onto 95-1 with 28 runs coming off the 5 overs. The 100 came up 3 overs later and then came a steady period in the proceedings. Gambhir brought up his 50 in style with a nice cover drive to hit 53* off just 53 balls. 4 overs later skipper Rahul Dravid brought up his 100 from a very good 121 balls. The 200 came up in 38 overs but just an over and one ball later, Dravid was run out by Crandon on 116 from 137 balls including 15 fours and a six. This brought to a close a 2nd wicket partnership of 145. This gave Yuvraj Singh some overs to make a decent score, but he didn't take the chance and was bowled by Crandon for 3 from 9 balls and only stayed at the crease 9 minutes. Now Raina had a chance to flourish with the bat for 8 overs. the 250 came up in 46 overs and Gambhir brought up a marvellous century 2 balls alter hitting it off only 89 balls. Gambhir and Raina pulled the score up to 295-3 off their 50 overs, which looked to be a very strong total and seemed almost impossible for guyana to make it.

Dravid and Gambhir had smashed Guyana :p nice presentation Treva :clap

Very good start mate, great pres and a very good start for india. Good luck mate...

Nice presentation Trev! Biggish total for Guyana to make and I think India will dominate them when they get their chance to bowl. Also, if India bat that well with inexperienced players, imagine what they do with Tendulkar and Karthik!

 Sreesanth is the only specialist fast bowler! 3 FB and 1 Spinner wud have sounded better. India's weak bowling seems to continue here too :p

Just giving the younger players a game here Suren so the likes of Pathan and others wil be in for the actual series. Just lets see who out of the young guns here will make it also...

cheers for the great comments guys :)

Ya, it shd be interesting to see how they perform in bowling with Sree leading them from front :) Still, 5th bowler prblem continues ;) I think Guyana might pull a win taking advantage of our team chemistry!

Well we have Yuvraj Singh who can take a few overs and If I bowl them out I won't need many overs from him...

Out came the Indian team and the two Guyanan openers, Ramdass and Arjune. Sreesanth was the main bowler and was taking the first over. A pretty normal field was set and the innings got underway. Sreesanth found some bounce first ball and ramdass could only get a thick edge on it straight to Uthappa at 1st slip. 0-1 after 1 ball and Ramdass picking up a diamond duck! In came Chanderpaul, not expecting to be in the middle for a few overs yet. Guyana going very slowly and only got to 32-1. The 2nd powerplay was taken but nothing happened for the 5 overs. Dravid then made a shock decision not to take the 3rd powerplay even with the Guyanese batsman all over the place. In Sharma's alst over after being bowled right through he got one to nick the edge of Arjune whilst on 29 but was dropped by the skipper at second slip. Sharma had bowled brilliantly and was very annoyed to not get a wicket for his efforts. Chanderpau lreached his 50 from 61 balls, but only 1 run later he was gone, Caught in the deep by Raina from a top edge sweep off Harbajhan Singh. Then in came the skipper Ramneresh Sarwan and then the powerplay was taken instantly after the wicket at 21 overs. Guyana brought up the 100 in 23 overs but Chawla strikes 3 balls into the 24th over dismissing Arjune LBW for 40 from 70 balls. Chattergoon comes to the crease and Sarwan just gets away with an edge past Dhoni when on 19. After a decent partnership Chattergoon finally departed for 22 from just 23 balls skying a sweep from Y Singh to deep square leg where H Singh took the catch. Cush then came, faced 1 ball, and then left as Y Singh got him to nick it to Uthappa at slip. With Yuvraj Singh on a hattrick McGarell came in! The hattrick didn't come but Chawla trapped Sarwan LBW for 44 from a quick 41 balls hitting 5 fours in 3/4 of an hour. Christian only lasted 7 balls as he went for 5 caught behind off Y Singh and 2 balls later Nagamootoo went bowled by Y Singh for a duck. Crandon came in and put on a decent partnership to get to 208-8 off 39 overs. Y singh then got out crandon LBW for 21 from 16 balls to move guyana along with McGarell. Finally the innings was wrapped up, after McGarell's magical innings was finished being bowled by Sreesanth for 63 from 41 balls in 40 minutes hitting 10 fours and a six. Thanks to Sarwan and McGarell Guyana got up to a respectable 255 a/o from 43 overs.

Just shows you that India need those other pacers and the added experience. However, a decent performance from the 2nd XII India if you like, nice presentation too Trev :D

I told u, team chemistry is not looking well.. If Guyana can smash, i wonder what will happen while playing a quality side.. but ofcourse, it takes time to learn from mistakes..after all they are newbies... lets see how they progress :)

I think McGarrell will now get a call for Oneday side also in this tour :) nice presentation Treva :clap
