Warm-up matches

India 82/3 and Pakistan 64/3 against Canada.

The Dutch bowlers bowl at the irritating pace of around 120kph which is quite difficult to get away on these pitches.
They troubled us in the 2003 WC at Paarl where we scored only 200 odd.
and the wicket at Paarl is similar to the Carribean pitches.

I think these warmup games suggest that whilst batting records may struggle to be broken, a couple of bowling ones might go.

To be honest , the warm-up games do not suggest or indicate too much about how the main event will be.
We very often see to sides losing to local teams in warm-up games.

This concept of having international sides playing warm-up matches is great, at least better than playing the local teams.

I'm talking about the early indications of the pitches Aditya. It looks like only one or two, will actually see 400+ totals as feasible.

tendulkars looking in really good touch as India begin to take control here. After a long delay Pakistan are begining to rebuild.

Sachin Tendulkar has been caught at cover after a fine innings, it was a soft dismissal, but no one (not even Tendulkar) is perfect. The 200 is up well before the 40th over which is a good sign as 300 as well within reach, especially with the settled Dravid in and Dhoni and Pathan waiting in the wings.

Match was stopped for 75 mins due to sightscreen problems.Hafeez dropped by Ali at square leg on 8. 15 runs off 28th over bowled by Osinde. Inzy got his 50 in 49 balls with 10 fours.
Very unusual.

Very curious to know what perfect means in that context  In such batting conditions, Tendulkar has played exceptionally well.. It seems people will get satisfied only if Tendulkar stays right from the first ball till the 300th ball :p

No, you get me wrong. I was just saying that it was a rare mistake from the little master to give his wicket away so easily. "Noone is perfect" is a figure of speech.

Still he wasn't perfect. That would require hitting a 6 off every ball :p

India: 244/5 (41 ov)

Dravid goes to a slower ball but the run rate is now very high and Yuvraj and Kartick/Dhoni/Pathan will surely take India far beyond 300.

lol Joe :rtfl

Anyways, looking at the other warm up matches,

* Bangla doing very well against Kiwis
* Canada too, did a pretty good job.
* Ireland also almost won yesterday.

Aren't those enough to close Ponting's comment on minnows. ;) There are going to be many more close matches in this series i guess which wud be interesting to watch :)

Yuvraj gone now! India looking in a spot of bother and 300 may slip slightly further away, hopefully Kartik and Pathan can aid us past 300.

Kartick gone now! Now 260 looks like the target, poor batting as the impressive ten Doeschate strikes again. Kartick has not performed enough, he should be dropped and in doing so solve our selection crisis.
