West Indies in England 2009

To be honest this series should not have gone ahead. It's too early to be playing test cricket here, the West Indies are struggling with the conditions and they would rather be playing in the IPL.

The World Twenty20 should have kicked off the summer, followed by an ODI tri-series and then the Ashes.

Of course it should be going ahead. There's no point in the West Indies playing on pitches like at home as there are pitches that swing and seam. I don't see why it's too early either the weathers not been that bad bar the one day so far.

I don't think so. The poor crowds for this series show that. After Zimbabwe were banned there shouldn't have been a test series this early. If we didn't have the World Twenty20 we could have played this series later.

IF is a big word. I think this series should have gone ahead, we need some tests before the Ashes.

Good day for England again. Anderson and Broad did well.

@ Lee - there have to be 7 home tests per summer contractually.

I feel really lucky with the weather, plenty of sun this morning and a fair bit yesterday. The Saturday crowd was pretty good as well.
I think the real problem with this series isn't the timing; it's the opposition. We've just played them and none of them really looked like they wanted to be there. Gayle's lack of inspiration in the field was obvious. The field stayed the same and if they had different plans to different batsmen we certainly never saw it. By contrast England's body language was really good and they're clearly up for the series. When the sun was out it was half-decent but we at least had the luxery of warm coats and wind-proof jackets the rest of the time.
I had a fun weekend, saw some great cricket and didn't get as cold or wet as I expected. Seriously good lunch today from the Jamaican food tent which helped too!

England are only playing 6 next summer so the contract must be changing.

WIndies are falling over, to sum up Taylor's efforts, a snippet from IRC.

[12:42] Nigel: taylor couldn't hit a beach ball
[12:42] Nigel: how did he get a test hundred
[12:42] Nigel: was vs the kiwis probably why
[12:43] Nigel: :D
[12:43] MFCMark: didnt hit that :D

Another innings win will be nice. Watching Colly keep is fun.

The innings Taylor played to make his hundred was really good, the bowling was very poor but he played some real good shots. He has the talent to be a international number eight.

You would say that ;)

Excellent session for England and more specifically James Anderson. Brilliant bowling from him, just superb control of the swinging ball. Should have stayed out there and let us get the last 2 wickets tbh.

England didnt play too superbly....fact is windies didnt play well... It would be their last series win for this year....they gonna lose the series against australia for sure.....

I think England managed to make some changes in their team that were needed. Maybe they went a little too far towards bowling, but they showed that they had collectively learned from their last tour.

The Windies didn't, simple as that. Their Test side got a little worse when it should have grown an inch.

Hopefully, the inclusion of the gritty and brutish Runako Morton is a boost to the ODI side. He has played a fair few good innings for the West Indies and appeared to be reaching his best in domestic cricket.

Well i'm sure Gayle would like to restore some pride so he should be "raring to go" for the ODIs. Surely he would want revenge?

Pietersen out of the One Dayers with Achilles injury. Just hope it isn't too bad don't want him missing for the Ashes but I don't think it'll be that bad.
