I hope not against the West Indies, I think batting to 7 will be fine against an attack like the West Indies.

It would be very beneficial actually to play a game without Vaughan and Pietersen, gives some other guys a chance to stake a claim. Also, puts the pressure on the batsmen not to rely on KP.

so that is good news, i also agree with whoever said Rob Key should get a call up, he is an awesome batsman and i am a big fan of him. Should get another chance in the side.

It all depends what you call batting. The available selection of keepers isn't a selection of international class no. 7s. Whatever, I think they will be fine against the Windies as you say, but the emphasis on batting to 8 was because you can't just throw a guy in the middle order and call them a batsman.
