He was slow in the world cup because the pitches were slow and his broken finger hindered him. He's still got pace, rarely dropped below 85mph against Durham the other day.

He probably has just retired and cricinfo have made an error (if thats the site you are on) as this is the norm for tour games.

Thats what I used to think but I seem to see it used quite often and then find out the batsman only retired to give someone else a go.

He was always concious of his finger, focusing on the wrong things.

Well under 12 hours to go (9:30AM tomorrow morning), Vaughan has been ruled out and KP is deemed fit apparently, 13 man squad to be named. I'd give Shah a game tbh, I know the simple answer would be both Bell and Colly but Shah is on fire and really deserves a go imo.

I feel that although West Indies is sending their full strength team it is still a very weak side they need 2-3 years to mature.

Pleased about Prior, hopefully he can do a good job. Hopefully Vaughan will be back for the 2nd test, good news that KP is fit though. Strauss has quite rightly got the captaincy.

I would have liked Jimmy in there in place of Plunkett.
