West Indies in England

Good squad, should be able to beat the West Indies, but I'm not ruling anything out yet. Nice to see Pietersen has recovered, sad to se Vaughan miss the test but he probably wouldn't have scored much anyway.

PLAY OWAIS SHAH.

I don't think Plunkett in for Anderson was the right choice but nevertheless, i'm not too disappointed with having Plunkett in there.

yeh i totally agree anderson should be there but plunkett isnt the worst choice they could have made

I like the squad. Play Owais England, has a bit of arrogance about him that only Pietersen has in our team...surprised Anderson isn't in that. Not that I rate him very highly as a test bowler, but I think he is more consistent, though if Plunkett can find the right areas he will be dangerous...

To be honest, i'd expect all our batsmen to play with arrogance against the West Indies really.

I really hope hope that's not the justification for picking Plunkett over Anderson. We barely need to bat down to 7 against the Windies let alone 8.

Cook
Strauss
Shah
Pietersen
Collingwood
Bell
Flintoff
Prior
Harmison
Hoggard
Panesar
12th man:Plunkett

Disappointed not to see Jimmy there. Bell batted well at no.6 at Pakistan so that is why I have put him there.

We normally put an extra bowler in, not an extra batter in, so I think a bowler will miss out.

why do all english have this mindset pick the best bowlers to bowl and the best batsmen to bat...

I really hope hope that's not the justification for picking Plunkett over Anderson. We barely need to bat down to 7 against the Windies let alone 8.

New coach, same selectors. Can't say it would surprise me if that's why he was picked.

Plunkett also got a rather handy 35 as well as his 8 wickets in the match against Kent. ;)

I'm happy with Plunkett for Anderson. I think that's a good team especially at home and I'd still fancy them against most test nations despite the Ashes humiliation.
That said we need to see something from Cook, Bell etc to keep Tresco and Shah out - not to mention Vaughan when fit again.

I do, it makes it easier to win. Winning is what counts as i'm sure Lee will back me up. ;)

:cheesy

I'm really not a Prior fan. What's wrong with Chris Read, why is he nowhere near contention all of a sudden?

In his autobiography, Flintoff says it is hard to play as a full fledged all rounder at 5 and 6 and plays better when he prioritises one over the other. I think the solution could be to bat him at 7.

England should trounce the West Indies since England are the better team + they are at home where their bowlers really thrive.

Yay, Mattys in \o/

I hope Shah plays tbh as I think he's better than Bell or Colly. Cant see him being picked though.
