Who is the BEST fast bowler

That's more like it! :cheer:

I think Ntini of South Africa at the moment. As well as being an excellent bowler his enthusiasm for the game is amazing. He sometimes comes close to running back to his crease!

I think Ntini is my pick for the best fast bowler and Mohammed Sami for the second best fast bowler because of his accuracy. :cheer:

I go for Shane Bond. He is pretty good as well.

By the look of things, I think we might have to call both Zaheer and Nehra as fast bowlers pretty soon. I happened to be in Madras and news from the MRF pace foundation is that both of them have been hitting 150 + speeds.

It should be great tp see them bowl at such speeds. With the movement they get off the seam they could become formidable.

im voting for shane bond hes done so well considering he started international cricket pretty late

other, Glenn McGrath.

although he is not as fast, he gets the ball where you gotta bowl it

As u can see on my nickname, the vote is no difficult to guess......My vote goes to the fastest bowler shoaib akhtar......but my second is Ntini....very interesting player and 3rd to M.Sami...

iniyan...i think khan is considered a fast bowler by the icc(well atleast it said on his profile during the cwc 2003 finals...you know where they tell what the player does)

A bowler is classified according to the speed he bowls in miles per hour.

Bowler------------------mph----------------------kph
***************************************
Fast---------------------90+----------------------144.8+
Fast-medium---------80-89---------------------128.74+
Medium-Fast---------70-79---------------------112.65+
Medium----------------60-69--------------------96.56+
Slow------------------Below 59----------------Below 95

The Fast category is classified into Express Fast (145-150k), Super Fast(150-160k) & Lightning Fast(160+k) .

Ofcourse, there may be other classifications. This one I have posted is based on MCC Masterclass 1996 edition. It is a coaching book. Also, I found the same classification in David Whiley's Art & Technique of Umpiring, edition 1976.

The fact is that the ICC does not have its own classification table. Atleast, it didn't when these books were published. That's how it is mentioned in the MCC Masterclass.

The ICC doesn't have any official classification table.

Also speed doesn't really have everything to do with it either.... it's a combination of technique and pace.

eg. Darren Gough is a fast bowler but only occasioanly bowls at 90mph.

Shahid Afridi is a slow bowler but sometimes bowls around 65mph.
