Nah, I think we fluffed our chance of signing Arshavin in January when we could have had him then but Moyes wouldn't pay 5 million for him. Zenit won't sell him for anything less than £15 million now so I think he'll end up with Arsenal tbh. It's very hard to trust newspapers these days, but I do believe that we'll end up with Engelaar and Moutinho as well as a couple of decent Championship buys like Kightly and that young keeper Lewis.

i've just seen his wikipedia profile and 47 goals in 217 appearances isn't that good to be honest.

He's not exactly a striker though, he "plays in the hole" (nice turn of phrase) or wide right most of the time, at most he plays off the big man (pogrenbyak (sp))

I think that's a good record for anyone who isn't an out and out striker.

A good striker needs to get 1in2 or 1in3 depending on what else he offers to the team. For a midfielder 1in5 is a good ratio.

His international record is 1in3 too.

Arshavin has refused to moves out of Russia in the past because he falls sick away from Russia. But he was strongly linked with a move to Lazio or Fiorentina. But Fiorentina then went on to sign Sionko, Jovetic and Gilardino.
