You didn't get my point. I mean WI heavily depends on these 2 players. I doubt they can score above 250+ with these players out. I miss Bravo, where is he? Injured?

Yea but wont many teams struggle if yo take out their 2 top batsman. Thats why I said take out Smith and Kallis from South Africa, Ponting and Hussey from Australia, Sangakkara and Jayawardene from Sri Lanka.

Bravo broke his thumb playing in the Big Bash, thats why he missed the ODIs in Australia and the first two here. He should be back for the last 3 ODIs and same goes for Sarwan.

I think Nash will find it hard to break in no matter what. Deonarine is doing well and is just starting to mature as a batsman, Pollard if he gets his head straight is probably ahead of him and now even Samuels with the comeback attempt is probably ahead of him. The best time for him was the Aussies ODIs and these two against Zimbabwe.

Have to remember that Deonarine was just 21 when he made his ODI and Test debuts and the first test was against South Africa. He got some starts against the Aussies in the ODI series and seems to be improving.

Nash is so much more suited to Tests. They already have Chanderpaul who can play just to stay in when the side is in trouble (which is becoming more frequent). But Chanderpaul can also accelerate his innings once a partnership is set or when the powerplay overs come in. So Nash for Tests, yes. For ODIs, doubt it.

So what, is it the first batsman you saw gave away his wicket to a "nothing" ball?? So you not showering him with "praise" means, nothing, says nothing, he lead from the front and am sure he would have liked to end it and carry his bat. What do you know of the two sides that played today? I will tell you this, as much as you and countless others will bash West Indies and of how low they have fall etc..., etc..., etc..., "note" only two West Indies player, have played more than 50 ODIs, thats Gayle and Chanderpaul, Zimbabwe 8 players have played more than 50 ODIs, and they did not just played against Kenya and Bangladesh, some of them have played against Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, and in so doing have gotten great experience along the way, maybe Zimbabwe is just playing good cricket, compound that with the ideal wicket for the type of bowlers they have and thus a tight game!!!

:what

I'm truely at a loss here. Look back over this thread and you'll see that I've been giving West Indies as much praise as anyone here, as well as saying how good Zimbabwe have been, so I have no idea what your rant is about to be honest.

All that still doesn't change the fact that Gayle gave his wicket away, so I genuinely have no idea what you're talking about to be honest.

He gave it away but where would the WI be without him. He went 80+ balls without hitting a boundary in a ODI innings. He could have give up and thrown it away much earlier when the middle order was collapsing around him. Props to Deonarine for playing a good innings and taking the team home but the only reason the WI won the game was because of Gayles performance at the top. Instead of going after him go after the majority of other players who have failed to support him yet again.
These last 2 matches were mind over matter and it seemed that only 3 players got their mind straight and played according to the teams needs and the rest just did crap.

Anybody knows why WestIndies are not playing Jerome Taylor and Fidel Edwards and playing the crappy Rampaul?

Squad: Chris Gayle (capt), Adrian Barath, Sulieman Benn, David Bernard, Darren Bravo, Dwayne Bravo, Shivnarine Chanderpaul, Narsingh Deonarine, Nikita Miller, Kieron Pollard, Denesh Ramdin (wk), Ravi Rampaul, Kemar Roach, Darren Sammy

Here is the squad for the final 3 ODIs, Smith and Fletcher get dropped and Bravo comes in. No Sarwan, I guess they didn't want to risk him getting injured again. So there wont me many changes to the team I guess. Bravo will probably come in for Bernard and Ramdin in for Fletcher.

Recovering from injuries.

Here in lie the problem, he must believe that the team is his father's estate and they can't leave without him!!! Ramdin needs a proper benching, and to have him think that thee are no replacement for his JOB, will continue to make him deliver piece-poor performances like most, Smith could be axed even after a good tour of Australia, because he messed up, the same should happen to Ramdin, because he can't remember when he last scored runs!!

So those of you who follow West Indies Domestic, Is there a keeper scoring runs consistantly?

Frankly none are!! The one with a better First Class record than Ramdin is the Jamaican Carlton Baugh, he is 27, and played only 5 Test matches, a run that was too short in my opinion, the problem with WICB is that they believe they can have the same keeper playing both roles, Test and ODIs and I don't see that being so. I believe that they need to look beyond Ramdim, and start with the U-19 guys and even to give Fletcher a few tours and let them compete for the Job.

Every time they benched Ramdin he was brought back after only missing a couple of matches. I'm not a expert but form doesn't come overnight. Like you said he needs to be benched proper and play domestic cricket for a year at least because there are others that can do the job as well or as poor as Ramdin did it.
There is not consistency what so ever, sometimes he can look so good for 20 runs and then play a shot that you would never expect from someone playing intentional cricket.

Until this season there were only two, Ramdin and Baugh. This year Fletcher had a good domestic season by his standards. He was 5th on the runs scorers list with 5 50+scores. Ramdin played 3 matches and scored two centuries but just couldn't bring that form into the ODIs against Australia or Zimbabwe.
Shane Dowrich played in the U19 World Cup and did well there. He had a couple of games for Barbados and did ok but he is only 18 and I doubt he is even close to being ready.

The thing with Fletcher is that he has 6 ducks in his previous 8 innings for the West Indies. He just doesn't seem to be of international standard at least not yet.
Unfortunately WI are stuck with Ramdin for the time being unless they go with Baugh.

Any of the windies fans heard if Jerome Taylor close to playing again soon?

Recovering Jerome Taylor eyes South Africa return - Jamaica Sports & Athletics: Football, Track, Cricket, Netball & More - JamaicaObserver.com

Taylor said he may feature in the latter part of the home series against Zimbabwe, which starts next month, but stressed that his main goal is to be ready for South Africa.

"Right now South Africa is my priority so I'm trying to get myself in shape and to be ready for South Africa. They are a very strong team and coming back into cricket I wouldn't mind facing a good team. I want to show the people of Jamaica and West Indies that Jerome Taylor is still here and here to stay and I want to represent West Indies well and make the people of the Caribbean feel proud. That is first and foremost in my mind right now," the speedster said.

Hopefully both him and Edwards are back at full strength against South Africa.

Cool. But i think i read somewhere a few months back, that Edwards is out for the entire 2010 with his injury though.

Yep, Fidel Edwards is suppose to be out for another year at least.
