Zimbabwe Tour of West Indies 2010

Anyone else think this is very sad to see WI really struggle to beat Zim? They've had some lows in the last 15 years but they really looked to be on the up, all signs are that they are miles off now.

Pollard is incredibly over rated IMO. He's only had a few good knocks.

Just a 20/20 player at the moment. Huge talent, had a couple good performances against Australia but has been below par. With shots like he played 2 days ago and today he deserves to be called overrated.

I honestly have no idea whats wrong. Ok there are injuries but players have to step up. Roach has done a fantastic job leading the attack all summer long, being the lone bowler and so inexperienced he has been great.
To me it seems more mental then anything else. The talent is there but guys just cant do what Deonarine did today.

Dare added 1 Minutes and 37 Seconds later...

WI is the worst team than Zim without Gayle and Chander IMO :facepalm

South Africa is a worse team then England, Australia, India without Kallis and Smith. :facepalm
Where does that make sense.

Any Zimbabwe fans around here?. Since i was wondering what are chances of the likes of Andy Blignaut, Sean Ervine, Colin de Grandhomme (currently playing domestic cricket in New Zealand) & Anthony Ireland probably playing for Zim again soon?

Pretty sure there aren't any Zimbabwe fans lurking anymore. Jordan (Jordox iirc) used to be about, and was a sound lad, but I've not seen him about these parts for a while. Shame, he was a quality guy.

Real indication of how far WI have fallen when they struggle to beat Zimbabwe chasing a relatively small total. They couldn't get a boundary away for almost 30 overs. That is just real poor. Hope to see some major improvements over the next couple of games.

Ywas was going to say Jordox would be the guy to ask but he hasn't been around for a while. Probably too busy with the kids.

Hope to see some major improvements over the next couple of games.

Hopefully the wicket in St Vincent offers more pace that wold help the WI, especially Gayle. Guyana has been the place where the wickets spin the most in the Caribbean. Thats why Chanderpaul, Sarwan and Deonarine and good players of spin and use their feet well.

Speaking of the ground in St Vincent it has to be one of the most beautiful ground in the world.

Well at least WI have won, been a while since I've seen that. Definitely a sad state seeing them struggling to beat Zimbabwe as on paper they have the team to trouble some of the top teams.

A much needed sigh of relief there for the Windies. Gayle played a very good innings while Deonarine was able to give him the support needed to chase down the total. Once again Zimbabwe were able to put up a good fight and maintain pressure on the Windies, but things will only get tougher in the next 3 ODI's when the Windies will be boosted with the return of Bravo and Sarwan.

Everyone and their mother is a critic!!! What are you really saying?? Please tell me before I comment.

Well what do you think I mean? It's not exactly rocket science is it?

I'm saying that Gayle threw away his wicket to a nothing ball.

So what, is it the first batsman you saw gave away his wicket to a "nothing" ball?? So you not showering him with "praise" means, nothing, says nothing, he lead from the front and am sure he would have liked to end it and carry his bat. What do you know of the two sides that played today? I will tell you this, as much as you and countless others will bash West Indies and of how low they have fall etc..., etc..., etc..., "note" only two West Indies player, have played more than 50 ODIs, thats Gayle and Chanderpaul, Zimbabwe 8 players have played more than 50 ODIs, and they did not just played against Kenya and Bangladesh, some of them have played against Australia, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, India, and in so doing have gotten great experience along the way, maybe Zimbabwe is just playing good cricket, compound that with the ideal wicket for the type of bowlers they have and thus a tight game!!!

The ideal XI for my windies would be
C.Gayle
A.Barath
R.Sarwan
M.Samuels
S.Chanderpaul
D.Bravo
one wicketkeeper(Should not be ramdin, Patrick browne will be good)
N.Miller
Legspinner
K.Roach
Edwards/Taylor.

For the 3 forthcoming matches

C.Gayle
A.Barath
R.Sarwan
N.Deonarine
S.Chanderpaul
D.Bravo
one wicketkeeper(Should not be ramdin)
N.Miller
Legspinner
K.Roach
Edwards/Taylor.

This Team would be awesome

I'm not sure I see a point behind having two spinners unless the wicket is like the ones in providence and you wont find wickets like these in too many stadiums around the world. Gayle is a good option with the ball as he showed today and can play that part time 2nd option.

As for the squad for the remaining 3 matches I am not sure that either Edwards and Taylor are available and fit to play. Depending on the wicket that is prepared Sammy will probably play and with that there will be 3 pace options if Bravo plays and then 2 full time spinner in Benn and Miller with Gayle and Deonarine bowling a few overs if need be.

I am not sure about Samuels. He still needs to show if he can replicate the form that he had before his suspension. Deonarine/Pollard are fighting for that spot and with the innings that Deonarine played today he might have sealed that spot for a little while. Both Taylor and Edwards should be in the team with Roach in my opinion that would be a really awesome pace trio.

You didn't get my point. I mean WI heavily depends on these 2 players. I doubt they can score above 250+ with these players out. I miss Bravo, where is he? Injured?
