A first look at patch 2! [new video on page 29]

It's a bug as acknowledged :facepalm
and
Slips catches are more prevalent post patch#2 and on PC, as stated. Cane me when you have it and do not find it so, until then, well.....

Very surprised I could be bothered answering your post :p

I`m also surprised , as I`m not one of the Fanboys. Much appreciated Ross .

Then again , it might be the PA taking a softer stance for the sake of it :lol

@Giggity Giggity

Well I just base it on my own playing experience , of around 100 + online matches of either T10/T20 . Me myself haven`t seen one. Only slippers I`ve seen are a weird looking cutshot/3rd Man lofted shot that went wrong and ends up in second slips grabbers. If you`ve seen it , count yourself lucky mate !

Looks like Pomer's and Fonz's adoption application finally came through..,,

I'm fine with a ball like that going to the keeper, catchable height and within a step of the keeper, they do catch balls going to first slip you know! @Acid Burn

Indeed, or in the case of a game I played last week, the opposition keeper dived right in front of first slip and nicely dropped it. Shame that I edged the next ball onto my stumps!

MattW your videos are by far the best representation of Test cricket ever seen in a video game and have convinced me to purchase DBC.

@MattW Some of us don't have the luxury of spending hours/days to play video games and so tests and career mode are not an option for me (sadly). Did you notice any improvements to the AI batting in the shorter formats? Can they bat somewhat sensibly when chasing a total in a T20?

Why isn't career mode an option? I play about 2 or 3 matches a week.

Career mode never appealed to me - starting off without any skills and slowly building on it; playing a single role in the team etc. Seems too long and one dimensional for me. I realize I may be in the minority on this as I notice a lot of folk here love the career mode.

I just want to able to control my full team and play a quick competitive game of cricket.

@Ross :If there is time to put in something extra in Patch#2 then, Please assign the AI to play the front foot leave animation rather than the getting away one which is present at the moment..The front foot looks more realistic than the current one....:)

Animation changes are not quite minor tweaks and entail huge amount of time and effort - right from motion capture to integrating with the existing game/code-base. I would be surprized if these kind of changes are incorporated before the next iteration of the game.

Not having played the career mode I don't know if this is the case or not, but isn't the AI batting/pacing an issue in shorter formats when playing in the career mode?

Straight drive and bowler didnt jumped to stop it this is a great change...

I saw this, wondered if anyone would comment like you did, so I can say that it actually happens pre patch 2. In the last 20+ career games I've played I've only hit two balls that was near (only more than roughly 1 meter away) from the bowler that he has managed to get a hand on. The two that were stopped were from the same bowler who just seemed to have better reaction attributes than the others I'm facing. What I experience is no different to what was shown in Matt's vid.

My last 20 edges in career mode (except for my very last one which was edged onto the stumps) all went to 1st slip to gully. Fortunately the one that had fielders in the way dropped short, but about half of that number flew through the gap when a slips fielder was not in that place.

I lost a T20 with the AI chasing 170 in 19 overs, so from a sample of one, yes.

Play career mode, just use the new option to start older with more skills. It might take you a year to finish, but I think it is the best mode to play, especially if you don't have much time.

I really appreciate the gameplay Videos MattW :thumbs - thanks for taking the time and effort to post them and hats off again to Ross and the BA team for the continued support.

I must say that patch 2 is certainly looking promising and I really think it's great that the gameplay is constantly being honed and improved upon. I suppose thats the only slight benefit for those of us that are patiently waiting for this release on PC.

What was the difficulty set at? A sample of one is larger than the sample of games I've seen the AI chase down a total higher than 150 in a T20 match :) so this is promising news indeed
