Well one could say that he did underperform in tests but boy he made the most of his career in ODI's and is arguably one of the best limited overs batsman in the world. Bevan is only one of two players with 30+ ODI innings to maintain an average of above 50 and of the people who have played 30+ ODI innings he is only one of three whose batting average never dropped under 40. Put aside his amazing stats he produced many match saving innings and was a very reliable middle order batsman, earning the nickname "The Finisher". Picking the gaps, running hard and knowing the right moment and place to hit a bounday were the hallmarks of his success. One of his finest moments in ODI cricket was against the Windies in 1996 with Australia set to chase 173 and finding themselves at an uncomfortable position at 6/38, Bevan was able to score an unbeaten 78 and hit a four on the last ball of the match to record an amazing win for his side.
