All Time ODI Cricket Draft <---Shravis uppp

Mahendra Singh Dhoni

World class wicket-keeper batsmen in ODi's are pretty hard to come by, and with Gilchrist already gone, I thought that now would be the time to make the leap and go for MS Dhoni. He has a fantastic ODi average of over 50 with 7 centuries, a strike rate 89, solid glove-work and a very good record as Indian captain.

damn, good choice KP, I thought it might be a while until Dhoni popped up due to him being more of a modern player that, while having excellent stats, was yet to cement himself as an all-time great ODI player. I reckon he's pretty much a dead cert to do that, he's the bevan of wicket-keeper ODI batsman, like Gilchrist was the Jayasuriya.

Damn! I was planning on picking Dhoni this round, having him in Bevan down the order would be have been an awesome combination.

I also must curse the above picks. I wanted Murali or Dhoni, but alas. Anyway, moving on... Hmmm, after cogitating on about 5 different guys I've gone with my 2nd West Indian:

Mr Joel Garner

Standing 6'8", the man known as Big Bird must have looked like gigantic to the batsman when he delivered the ball from his high action. Garner was known for 3 things: extra bounce, stifling accuracy and he was one of the early masters of the toe crushing yorker. He has the lowest average in ODI cricket history (for guys taking over 100 wickets) taking 146 wickets at 18.84, 2 runs per wicket better than the next best. Produced a fantastic performance in the '79 World Cup final v England taking 5 for 38 to gut the Poms chase when England were starting to gain the upper hand. Was at his peak in the mid 80s when from Jan 1984- Jan 1987 he averaged 15.52 taking 70 wickets in 43 games in that time. I and many others rate him the finest ODI bowler of all-time.

Oh and I've picked the only 2 guys that haven't played this decade. I think I'll call it Sifter's Senior XI :D

Wasim Akram

Once one day cricket's leading wicket taker, few bowlers are as potent as Akram. Lethally fast and swung it like an axe wielder he formed some of the most deadly pace bowling combinations in the history of one day cricket. With an incredible combination of 502 wickets, an average of 23.52, an economy of 3.89 and a strike rate of 36, Akram was the Mr. Consistency of Pakistani cricket, playing for a mammoth 19 years, unheard of for a pace bowler. A massive underachiever with the bat but still no mug, he's one of the most rounded cricketers in the limited overs format.

^What's happening dude? Even if you haven't got time for a write up, try and post just your pick so the next guy can start thinking and then you can edit later.

Yeah guys, we don't need fancy paragraphs. Just make your picks. You can add paragraphs later.

I wouldn't :D

I think of my all time XI 9 have been picked so far. Only 2 that aren't in my XI would be Dhoni and Jayasuriya. And that means 2 of my dream XI are still left to be picked. I wonder who they could be...:p

I am so surprised that Wasim Akram hasnt been picked yet

No names, no ideas please. I'm sure he'll be picked but maybe people will forget to choose him in the first rounds. It's too late now, but try not do it again, please.

Trust me, people do forget. For example in the subcontinental test draft, KingCricket picked Roger Binny...

Alright sorry on that one just saying lol.

Oh fine, I'll post it now. I did my write up and everything, posted it and regretted it :p

So I edited it. But it's so hard!
