All Time ODI Cricket Draft <---Shravis uppp

Sorry guys, about a second after I made the Akram pick I pulled out lol.

But it's all good now.

So akram it is, oh well, I was keeping my fingers crossed he'd still be available.

No Akram means

Allan Donald

A brutal bowler that had the discipline and accuracy to dominate in the shorter formats. His stats are incredible 272 at 21.78 and a strike rate a whisker over 30. Of course what's remembered of the 1999 world cup semi final is his awful run out, but it's also worth noting that he had already torn through australia, then at the peak of their powers, with a haul of 4-32. Was rated as the second best ODI bowler ever by wisden.

OK I'm confused. Gazza, why are you making a pick for Shravi? It was Harishan's turn to pick - he's the one who should miss out or have someone else pick for him. And why are we enforcing the 24 hour rule for Harishan, when we didn't for Gazza?

And what is the rule? If you miss your window do you forfeit your selection or do you just slot back in lower when you are ready to pick?

Come on people ffs. This is seriously dragging!

Agree totally - we should be doing a round every day or 2. We've haven't done 2 rounds in almost a week.

And having asked the questions here's how I'd answer them:
I think if you miss your pick you don't lose it, but your pick moves lower in the order. How much lower depends on when we know you're ready. You'd need to post saying 'im ready now' or something and then you would have the pick immediately after the next pick was made.

So for our current situation:
Stinky should have Wasim Akram because Gazza went over his 24 hours
Gazza would then need to post his readiness to pick and he'd slot in after the next pick was made, but that next pick was supposed to be Harishan's, and he's missed his 24 hours too. So I think Gazza should be back picking and Harishan needs to come on and state that he's ready to pick so that he gets the pick after Gazza. If he doesn't do that by the time Gazza picks then Shravi gets to pick first. Donald and Saqlain get thrown back into the pool. To me that's fair. But I dunno what you guys think or what you want to do about it.

Noone noticed though. If they did, they didn't call Gazza out on it. So we move on.

I PMed Gazza to choose Saqlain Mushtaq for me because there were 10 minutes until Harishan missed his time limit and I had to catch the school bus so I couldn't capitalize on this.

If you miss your pick, you have to make that missed pick after the entire draft is over. There has to be a big punishment. There are 8 teams. We can't afford these time delays or it will take forever.

I'll post this again in the hope that a moderator or admin reads it. Could you please give the members of the draft control over the title of the thread so we could edit it to say whose turn it is when we have completed our turn? I tend not to read this thread if it doesn't have my name in the title but the title hasn't been updated regularly by the thread starter.

Okay, I shall do my justification now.

Saqlain Mushtaq was second only to Murali as an ODI spin bowler. He was the fastest bowler to 100, 150, 200 and 250 wickets in ODIs. He is the only spinner to have taken a hat-trick in ODIs, and one of only three bowlers to have taken two ODI hat trick. He was also selected as the Wisden Cricketer of Year in 2000. Saqlain was also a master of variation. It comes as little surprise then that he was the inventor of the doosra. Much like with his stock delivery, he was able to bowl the doosra with immaculate accuracy. It is often said that this mastery of the doosra worked against him in that he used too much variation and didn't turn to his stock delivery too often. However, while this may have worked against him in test cricket, there is not a single chink in Saqlain's armor in ODI cricket. He took 288 wickets at an average of 21.78 with 11 four wicket hauls and 6 five wicket hauls. He also had an economy rate of 4.29. Also, he is a true wicket taking option with a highly impressive strike rate of 30.4.

I had to make this pick now as much like with wicket keepers, there is a shortage of top class spinners in the ODI format.

It's like Monopoly. If I don't pay rent and the owner doesn't notice before the next person rolls, I don't have to pay :p

Well it's a big day for Howsie then. If he doesn't get his picks in, that's 2 down the drain.
