Australia Tour Of India 2012/13

Obvious joke...actually, these 4 players took their assignments way too seriously, and found loads of areas the team could improve, but it took so long to list them all that they ran out of time to complete their assignments.

This is what Greg Chappel tried to do with the Indian team and we all know how that ended. There are very many similarities between that era and what's currently going on with Mickey Arthur, Clarke and the rest of the team.

Hah WOW! Mickey Arthur and Australian selectors are a joke. They are basically removing 4 players from their final 11 of Mohali test. Good luck coming back into the series.

Interesting with this. Watson and Johnson are now gone. They were experienced players in the team.

Well Dhoni have also played 116 matches as well which is higher Dinesh Karthik's 108. Parthiv has played the highest of 131.
Those 116 include 75 test matches.
You have to understand one thing that Dhoni is not a technical batsman. You will never see him playing those elegant cover drive or the lovely straight drive because he has no technique. However, he has more power than the other two and he will play those unorthodox shots to frustrate the bowlers.
Test cricket needs a batsman who is capable of playing long innings when situation demands. Excepting couple of knocks at England, I cannot see Dhoni playing rock solid defense.
Just like how situation demands power slog sometimes, situation also demands defensive play. Can he do it?

The thing is, since he became the captain, he was not playing his natural game in test cricket. His natural game is to attack but I have rarely seen him doing that in test. He plays best when attack the bowlers. If he plays his natural game he will be definately more successful than what he is right now. If Sehwag can play like that than why can't Dhoni? And he can play some shots that the two your mentioned never can.
Why is he changing his natural game?
And Sehwag has been given a role of going hard- agreed that his natural game is hard hitting. But he has also proved that he is capable of playing slowly too. When Dhoni's natural game is hard hitting, why can't he open the innings in place of Sehwag?

This is coming from a Gujarat fan whose captain is Parthiv Patel.
What am I being told here?

How about you tell that to Shewag? Can he do that? or "this is the only way I play" theory comes right in between? And if you have missed my post earlier, I have posted an image 2 pages back I think which includes Indian batsman's runs after January 2011 up until now. Guess what? Dhoni is the second highest scorer in that list after Dravid. That means he is doing his job.

Because Dhoni is not an opener. That is the thing I am trying to tell you is that I am not sure why has he changed his natural game. He looks at his best when he attack the bowlers because that's his natural game. He has started doing that in last few games so I hope he can continue doing that in upcoming matches. When did Sehwag prove that he can play slowly?

Because I have seen more of Parthiv Patel than you probably have and I know how good he is and what are his limitations. Trust me, he is certainly not a test level batsman no matter how good he performs in domestic.

Oh my god, so strong decision in the mid-way of series???

There was no need of removing Khwaja and Johnson, they should have given them at least one chance to perform here in India :facepalm

Any news of new 4 players coming to India??? because now they have only 11 players fit to play... as Wade is doubtful :rolleyes

Why must Khwaja and Johnson prepare presentations on how to improve when they didn't even friggin' play a single game in this series? Something else is wrong...

This is total rubbish.. These guys are not businessmen to be making presentations. They are sportsmen. This is a classic example of trying to take innovation "TOO FAR".

Yea i was just about the make this comparison. I've been wanting to say this for a while because i've been getting this sense - but now i feel its time. This foreign coach thing doesn't suite AUS cricket culture.

AUS cricket team is a bit like Brazil, Argentina, Germany in football - too proud of its own football cultures to employ a foreign coach. They feel more comfortable exporting coaches overseas.

Mikey Arthur was given a chance but this is simply ridiculous now. Now way could have John Buchanan after AUS did bad in a series (although they weren't many) tell the likes of McGrath, Warne, Waugh bro, Ponting etc etc some crap like this to do.

Yep well spotted something else is certainly wrong. If this causes AUS to lose Shane Watson as a test cricket because of this bulldust, this panel, coach & even Clarke as captain will never be forgiven.

We have seen some very childish reasons for players being left out of national teams in recent years.

- WICB controversies with Gayle, Sarwan
- NZ problems with McCullum & Ryder
- ENG problems with Pietersen
- SRI losing Samaraweera & all their consistent contracts issues

First Pietersen gets axed for sending text messages to South Africans. Now these four get axed for NOT sending text messages to a South African? Hmm...

Cricket Australia are in utter shambles is all. Best time ever for England to play/batter Australia in a back to back Ashes series.

Lol, players are getting punished because their coach is clueless about his job.....

Seriously..... what's this, a school/college?

Arthur bashing will be the favourite topic in the next 48 hours, and that's why its so important that MICHAEL CLARKE does as much media as he can to explain what happened and what will happen in future. Funny how a few runs makes you a much better man. 2 years ago, Clarke was despised. Now he's a national hero, so it really needs to be him who 'sells' this incident to the public. There's no other respected figure to do it now that Ponting and Hussey aren't there.

I find it interesting that if I had to pick 4 guys who might not comply with team rules, then these were probably the 4 you'd pick. Johnson and Khawaja seem the forgetful type, particularly Khawaja who seems half asleep even when he's batting. While Watson and Pattinson would be the argumentative, I was gonna do it on Monday, type. Exactly how it turned out...To me that makes it more believable that it really WAS a series of small incidents over time - and not just forgetting to slide 3 bullet points under the coach's door.

All this will be is yet another distraction/scapegoat for deluded Aussie fans who want to blame anything and everything (apart from the performances themselves) for the losses. Must be selectors, coaches, pitches, feng shui in the dressing room - whatever...I'm over it

Well the performances themselves come down to the selectors not picking the best players. Not that I'm an Aussie fan anymore but yes, you can blame the selectors when your best players aren't in the side.

But yeah, this is a joke. The coach/selector's job is to decide what each player can bring in the team, not the players themselves. The fact the coach asked them to even do that assignment just shows that the coach has no idea what his players can actually do.
