Australia tour of India (Feb '17/Mar '17)

Well done Starc! However, an innings defeat is inevitable.

I was blabbering a lot about the Aussie young batsmen, and how awful they are but I think Renshaw is some serious serious talent. I think Handscomb will make runs against spin, but his technique is just surreal.

Very disappointed with Steve Smith. There was 0 intent from him today. This wicket, you might as well play your shots while you're out there. One unplayable delivery will have your name on it.

Waiting now for Mr.Kohli to come out and make batting look as easy as throwing water balloons for fun on Holi.

Australia have reached the par score on this wicket. If Starc can continue and get to 275-300, then the score will be above par for this wicket. And the Aussies will be in with a serious chance to win this game. esp since India bats last

Until India's first innings comes to an end, it's quite difficult to say who will come out on top. It's too unpredictable at the moment.

If Australian spinners turn out to be ineffective like England's did, then reverse swing will be the only thing that India will need to worry about. At the moment, India have their nose ahead inspite of giving away 30 extra runs.

I feel Australia have done quite well so far, considering it was a rage turner. Very well playing Starc. Without him, Australia would've been off with a low score but he managed to pull them back into this match with good half century. If Australia add 25-30 runs, that will be good enough and give them something to bowl at.

I think what Allan Border said about Renshaw's upset stomach was ridiculous. If the batsman feels unwell, he won't be able to bat properly. Yet, that meant there were two new batsmen at the crease, but still he came back to play which was important.

Decent day for India! I was expecting India to start off bad as is their norm for most part. But 256/9 is not a bad start by any means. And I am not expecting Australia's spinners to be anywhere close to being as effective as India's spinners. Yes Starc is going to be a huge threat but the pitch could also nullify him to an extent and also India don't worry pace. Its pace with bounce and lateral movement where India are in trouble. I doubt Starc will get much of that. Starc did well in Sri Lanka, but against far superior batsmen like Kohli, Vijay, Pujara, Rahane and Ashwin, I doubt if Starc can replicate his SL success.

India would do well to wrap Australia up early on Day 2 before Australia cross 275. India need to use up most of Day 2 and 3 when the pitch is normally expected to be better for batting.

India have prepared a very dry pitch but that's fine (Home Advantage+plus we are pretty poor against the spinners) but so far we have played well !!

Mitch Marsh is not a Bowler!
Mitch Marsh is not an AR
Mitch Marsh is not a Batsman

Wade needs to score runs in this series otherwise Nevill or (Hartley) should be selected :)

Bit of a weird innings so far. When you consider the start Australia had, 250 seems a bit below par. Factor in their collapse and 250 seems like a very good score. O'Keefe should thrive as long as he bowls stump-to-stump, the pitch will take care of the rest. It's Lyon I'm most worried about - the Indian batsmen could have a field day facing him.

So disappointing to see few people criticizing Renshaw for attending 'his nature's call'. Cricket is not important than nature (heck, its not even more important than your personal life). There are reportedly serious health issues that will manifest if you suppress nature's call for too long. These issues will likely not manifest short term, but long term they can and its the player's decision. Even if the player's team needs a 6 off the final ball to win the World Cup and the player is on strike and he gets a 'nature call' that is no longer possible to resist, he has to go to attend it.

Very weird day to summarize. Australia started off pretty well but we were back in the game when we had them from 205 for 9. We should have finished them off but due to Mitch Starc, they got to a respectable total. Now we need to get that last wicket as soon as possible tomorrow.

Again, not much mention of Umesh but I feel he was finally rewarded for bowling beautifully throughout this whole season for India. He has been the standout fast bowler for India in this long season. He bowled with good pace and great control to bring India back into the game. Ashwin was bowling well but did bowl too many bad balls which we are not used to from him. Jayant was bowling too slowly on this pitch and therefore couldn't get many wickets.

Its surprising that people including Allan Border are making fuss of it. To read the comments from former Aussie captain is ridiculous. Of course there is a risk of having a new batsman coming on a difficult wicket but there's nothing anyone could do about it. They're all humans, not bots.

Australia hold the edge now. Starc's innings will be the difference. I guess it will be very difficult to bat in the last session tomorrow and with how Umesh's ball took off when Starc was batting, Starc would be happy to bowl in the morning session. Tough day tomorrow for India but I believe we will manage a small lead in the first innings.

That was quick. Thankfully.

We need to bat really well. Hope Rahul doesn't give away a freebie. Need to take lead of around minimum 125 considering we will be batting in the last innings.
