Australia tour of India (Feb '17/Mar '17)

He might be one from the troll pages. Smith Averages 60+ in test matches which is not a fluke and has done well all over the world and deserves the no.1 ranking in tests.

True!!
Smith/Kohli/QDK.Williamson/Root can play anywhere in the world :)

Damn I can't believe that Australia hold the edge now, maybe they proved us wrong on these forums who said 4-0 again. They proved me wrong certainly. Well played Australia. Steve O'Keefe played brilliantly picking up six wickets. We need to make sure Aus does not score too many runs and we need to get them out as soon as we can, and then look to draw the match, which will be a struggle. Someone has to something special to not lose this match.

I am too depressed to watch the rest of the match. I will just check the scores after the first session tomorrow. Not entering this thread until then.

But Kohli's credibility to score runs will still be questioned bypundits and fans around the world unless he get some runs which hopefully he will in 2018 tour.

Will India ever learn that these kind of pitches are not what they require to win? I thought they had learned the lesson after seeing the surfaces in the England series.

Perhaps this dramatic batting collapse came at the right time for India , for they would be reminded of this collapse when they come to bat again & in the last innings will have the determination that they could still draw/win the match ...... This can be seen clearly in Virat's eyes :thumbs :ind:

But it's absurd that some Indians are losing hope .

This match is definitely not going to be draw. So no point trying to save the game. India should instead be aggressive while batting and not let the spinners settled down; and by agressive I don't mean bang-bang hits. Single, twos can do the job too. Just keep rotating the strike and put the bad balls away (which will come if they rotate the strike)

Being a fan is one thing and Applying brains is another thing. If there is one team that can chase this target is India but the chances very less on the wicket which is wearing down and batting will become extremely difficult.

Well that was unnecessarily aggressive. I don't think I've ever 'come out of a rat hole' just to mock India (except this one occasion). I'm just pointing out the fact that a fair amount of Indian supporters were extremely arrogant coming in to this series and I'm enjoying Australia bring them back to reality (especially Smith who I really like and O'Keefe who resembles me quite a bit). I feel that because I don't praise AB like the god people think he is and I don't support the BCCI you dismiss and reject all my opinions which is fine but I like to use stats and stats don't lie.

Unfortunately I was too busy to come on a cricket forum (when there was next to no SA cricket) and praise a country who I don't support. Next time India win a test I will praise them and treat them like the Bangladesh-thumping (/s. They are a good side) side they are.

It all depends on Kohli. If he scores runs then 500 isn't enough but if he goes cheaply then 300 is easily defendable.

Well if you're going to troll and be proud about it then you're going to get aggression. If you care to read which you often don't on this board, I just wanted to go about ranting 4-zip because in my teens (the Ansett Australia) test series, the Aussie fans would laugh when India came to their shores. Any realistic and sensible cricket fan would have told you that the Aussies were in for a proper caning. If you think the Indian fans don't respect the Australian team or their fans, then you're mistaken and much like most of your opinions, it's complete garbage. The Aussies are by FAR the best cricket team since cricket began. I'm speaking on an overall basis and even though I'm Indian, I don't doubt or not accept that. Just like you, a lot of people (Indians) here are Steve Smith fans, but he's been a shadow of his great self with the bat in this test match. You raving about it tells me you just decided to log on to Cricinfo/Cricbuzz and decided to come here and babble your little rant. He was dropped repeatedly, through no fault of his own but a batsman of his calibre is capable of scoring a chance less ton on that wicket and that's what we expect from him. Sorry, but Smith was actually poor.

Can anyone reading this discussion tell me how suddenly de Villiers ability has become a subject of debate? Or the BCCI?

Every sportsperson has his critics and supporters, it's a law of the world. I can totally live with AB's critics. What is 'garbage' (I have to repeatedly use that term because of your post) is that people conveniently tell us stats don't lie yet ignore those same stats when used against them. I can guarantee that if India were in the position Australia is in, you would have come over here to tell us how this is not a test match level pitch like you were during the SA tour.

Lastly, if you think we're only a 'Bangladesh thumping side' I'm glad you're not sitting on the chair Haroon Lorgat is because you would have withdrawn SA from all ICC World Cups decades ago! When was the last time you guys actually won something called a World Cup again? *cough CHOKE cough*!

Oh and until you come out of the rat hole again, did I say 'Owned?'

Unless the target for the fourth innings is 450+, India will still have a reasonable chance of winning. Don't let one (freak) innings fool you, lightning doesn't strike twice. Rahul has shown that batting on the pitch isn't impossible provided you apply yourself so that's something the Indian batsmen will definitely look at.

Shaun Marsh hasn't even scored his customary century in the first innings of a series which allows him to flop for the remaining matches, hope he's dropped for Khawaja. It's tough to comprehend what he offers the team.

Completely disappointed with the way our batsmen threw their wickets away. Luck is in favour of Australia. They got so many chances which was quite amusing. Virat's wicket was the turning point. The team's morale fell when he got out so early. Ashwin's wicket was really lucky aspect for Aussies.

Bowling seemed too easy at the start. Smith and Renshaw batted so well. Smith has so much of luck favouring him. He can't bat properly in Asia, I repeat, he can't bat as he does in Australia. He has got so many chances today. He would've been in the pavillion with single digit if Vijay had caught that 1st chance. Then everything he did was giving away so many chances and Abhinav Mukund dropped everything. He dropped the catches which the apprentice trainee would've taken it. Dropped the catch in the same position when Virat took it beautifully in the 1st innings.

All in all, they are in a solid position and what leaves is a disappointing day for India. Hope they can contain them to something below 400 and chase that down. Need few chances just like Smith got which I think it won't considering the top class fielding unit of Australia.

I am still not switched off from this yet. Yes, India fell on the wrong side of the coin and Australia were well prepared to capitalise on it but India are still in their domain and if Ashwin/Jadeja/Jayant/Umesh can run through Australia tomorrow and set up for a 350-400 chase, our batters can achieve it. There is going to be so much of time left in this game that India can not think of trying to save the test. They have to still keep looking for victory. Ashwin has bowled superbly so far in the 2nd innings and will be key tomorrow.

I like your positivity, but chasing 400 is a bit too optimistic. Teams struggle to do so on a normal pitch and this one is a rage turner. I've lost hope.

Even if Australia get bundled out for 200, I don't see India chasing 360+. They already have been mentally affected by what has happened in the first innings. It will be difficult to let that go.

Frankly, if we had a lineup of Sehwag, Dravid, Sachin and VVS like the old days, I'd also thought we have a chance because of the sheer skill set those guys had. We have only three good players of spin in this lineup: Vijay, Pujara and Rahane. Most of our batsmen don't play sweep or have the ability of change the length of the bowler on a turning wicket. We are obviously better players of spin but most of our batsmen play it from the crease and don't go back and forth like the old timers. Pujara is the only one I can think of who can do that. Then, they also have Starc and Hazlewood to counter.

Instead of calling Smith "Lucky" you should call your Indian fielder "weak"... They drop their chance that doesn't mean we are lucky.. They are weak, accept it.. And it's not the 1st time where India failed in fielding.. The same thing happened against England too...[DOUBLEPOST=1487951190][/DOUBLEPOST]Indians = when they got success they call it hard work. And when they fail they blame the opposition as lucky.. :clap
