Australia tour of India (Feb '17/Mar '17)

These are some handy runs with bat by Steve o keefe. Runs coming Thick and fast for the Australians!

Considering where we were at the start of the day, if we can keep them to 450, it may not be that bad an effort from us. A special mention for Umesh and Jadeja who have kept us in the contest. Ishant`s selection needs to be given a long, hard thought. If he has nothing to offer with the old ball, the likes of Varun Aaron could be far better options. Test match bowling is about being able to take wickets in every part of the day, not just the new ball.

Ishant Sharma is fine and bowled with heart. I myself have never liked him much but credit where it's due. The real selection quandary is Ashwin. He's useless in front of quality batters on good tracks. Proper one trick pony![DOUBLEPOST=1489738663][/DOUBLEPOST]
Smith has to gradually up the ante now. By playing too slowly, he's increasing the chances of a draw.

Rahane has captained quite well to be honest, he has used Jadeja and Ashwin in a very interesting manner. Jadeja is the more attacking bowler now while Ashwin is being used in a more defensive manner.

Some excellent posts and thoughts by you right through the test. :thumbs

I beg to differ on Ashwin. While I agree that he looked toothless here, he was instrumental in winning us the England series which was played on good tracks and against a solid batting lineup.

On the score card he always looks phenomenal. Jadeja is by FAR the better bowler. It's the pressure he and the seamers create that he benefits from. He's a proper second innings bowler and deadly to left handers which are filled in the English line up. Pit him against a world class bat on a good pitch and he is hopeless. Story of his career really! India's strength is it's seam attack, believe it or not!

Cummins hopefully he will take some wickets :)

I agree with you on the Indian seam attack. Yadav and Shami were the difference between the two sides in the England series as well. If we happen to get some real green seamers overseas, we have an attack that will now be a handful.

Main issue is Shami's fitness.
I also love the way how Umesh has handled responsibility. In England and NZ series, we would go to Shami when we needed a wicket desperately while Umesh was unlucky to get wickets. But now, we go to Umesh when we needed wickets and he has got them.

Really happy with Umesh in this home season.

India in a firm position to loss from here.

I hope theyre skittled for less than 200 this inns.

The seamers have also been unlucky to have a lot of catches dropped of their bowling this season. Vijay is the key man for India this innings due to his confidence against the spinners. If he gets going, we will get very close to the Aussie total. If India can reduce this to a 2nd innings shootout, Australia will feel the pressure again. A long way to go from here but the openers need to get us to at least the 150 mark.

Vijay playing at a snail's pace. He's so good but sometimes goes into his shell.

This seems to be the plan here with Rahul being the aggressive partner and Vijay the anchor. As long as they can tire the attack, it still achieves something. Hazelnut`s looking dangerous here. The seamers look more threatening on this track than the spinners. Reverse swing is a bigger threat than turn here. India need to get to 120-odd at stumps for at the most 1 wicket. Remember, the longer the top order bats, the more time Kohli gets to heal his shoulder.

We must make Australia pay for not converting their first innings position to an impregnable 550-odd score. Believe it or not, India would`ve taken 450, especially with Smith having batted through.

I agree with Ashwin Remarks against good batting team. What I don't like about Ashwin is that he tries too much when things don't go his way - leg sin, overspin and constant change of sides.Whenever he has gone to that negative line is when he really struggles that's what he usually do in limited overs cricket and is an average bowler in that format and looks hopeless in longer format.
