Australia's Tour Of India - 2008

Australia has been bowled for 355 runs.

India has to bat out one over today.

I hope lee get this over as today his birthday :) who knows, he can grab 1-2 wickets :happy

Lee barely came out to bat, he batted at 11, he's clearly not feeling well. The chances of him bowling the over are INCREDIBLY slim. Australia will need him tommorow though, they've got no chance of bowling out an Indian attack with Johnson, Watson, White and Krejza. They'll have more respect for Krejza now, not alot more, because he got spanked for over 200, but they won't be AS free with their strokes.

One more thing. If this is the Indian attitude to cricket , they will NEVER take over OZ as the best team in the world. When we are dominating cricket we never settle for draws , or winning 1-0.We wouldve tried to absolutely smash the other team and try to win 2-0 or 3-0. But India are more than happy with 1-0 win from what I can see. India are just a team full of champion players and if this their attitude they will never be a champion team.

dude it was a tactical decision. when both teams are neck to neck and there is nothing much to assist. .then it becomes more of tactics vs tactics game. .it is not a negative attitude as many see it. .one cannot be predictable, that tactical change hinted of defensive attitude but at the same time bowlers were attacking and it was done to get a result not for a draw as the scorecard suggests.

tactical change is part of every sport, and it is as important as ability.

Come on India, the win is ours for the taking. 400 in a day and a session to set Australia 486to win in a day and two sessions - enough time to bowl Australia out. A hypothetical Indian collapse still has the series open for Australia, but that really shouldn't happen with Lee ill; causing a hopefully unpenetrative an attack of Johnson, Watson, White, Krejza and Clarke

Outside off-stump line is not attacking. I struggle to see how you could pretend that it is. They had the leg-side boundary covered when Mitchell Johnson was batting. This is Mitchell Johnson. If they really wanted a result, they would have been tempting him by bringing the field in to him. India have played negative cricket all day, and have clearly been looking at winning the series rather than the match. For such an exciting young team, it is disappointing that they don't mind playing that sort of cricket to win a series - but if anything, it will probably help them in the long run as they'll win matches an attacking side wouldn't.

If the situation was reversed, I have no doubt Australia wouldn't have played the style of cricket which India did today. As it panned out, it was a good day for India, but who knows, had there been fielders in close all day and they had given the batsmen a chance to play shots with their lines, they might have gotten Australia all out by tea. India are aiming at a draw here, in the same position, Australia would probably be able to squeeze the win in four days.

Lee's illness makes no difference. Lee is our worst bowler at the moment, and that is including White. If he doesn't bowl tomorrow it is less overs wasted for Australia. When the next test series starts Lee should be under a lot of pressure.

Lee back to where I rated him a year ago - not very highly. Always saw him as one of those guys who just got the cheap, easy wickets, until last year's home series against Sri Lanka and India, where I started to think he wasn't so bad. Certainly if he can't improve when we get home, particularly to rip through NZ, I'll be saying I told you so.

Eh? I thought there was only two days left in the match? A day and a sessions + day and two sessions = 3 days if my mathematics are correct.

I think we need to get 350 by Stumps tomorrow so we have a lead of about 436, Australia can't chase that down on a wearing pich on the last day.

Unless Sehwag gets going, I can't see India getting more than 300 runs in the day. 3/268 is my prediction after a very disappointing day's cricket today, the only wickets coming due to batsmen falling asleep and the bowlers being awake enough to appeal.

Sorry, bit of a calculation error from me.

I take it you were on the edge of your seat then tassie? For once, I was happy to have no Foxtel.

Nah it got pretty exciting, we had a wager going on what would happen on the third ball of each over.

Odds were:
$1.85 wide and good length outside off
$2.10 wide and short outside off
$2.75 wide and full outside off
$8 some other arrangement which involves no possible cricket stroke being possible to make a run
$1001 a large planet moves into close enough proximity to earth so that it has a gravitational pull on the ball and this ball is thus pulled into outer space
$1002 the ball is actually hittable

Note: I had a crack at the planet one a few times, the odds for that were quite good value. As were the wide and full ones, should have been shorter-priced.

Yeah I was just on edge with the cricinfo commentary, they really know how to keep you in suspense. Especially those emails in, loved the "This is boring" every 10 seconds from someone different, and then an hour later the "This isn't boring at all" every 10 seconds from someone different.
