England in Sri Lanka

Alastair Cook, Phil Mustard (wk), Ian Bell, Kevin Pietersen, Paul Collingwood (capt), Owais Shah, Ravi Bopara, Graeme Swann, Stuart Broad, Ryan Sidebottom, James Anderson.

Graeme Swann is god.

can't believe England are plkaying international cricket again.. what ayear its been..

Ashes --> world cup --> Tests + ODI V WI --> Tests +ODI V India --> 20/20 WC --> now Touring Sri lanka

thats quite a grueling schedule..

Sri Lanka have got off to a good start despite losing Jayasuriya.
Interesting to see Swann bowl later and how Mustard does through out the day.

smart stumping my mustard as swann beats sangakara in the flight..

apparently the floodlights are a bit dodgy here so batting 2nd will be very tough

What a horrible way to go out, threw his wicket away completely, IMO a poor innings with lucky hitting.

Here comes Bell to show em how to get the job done

Even in photos it seems painfully dark

Wow, never thought about that.

Compared to Australia:

Ashes ~ WC ~ 20/20 ~

Same old England. I'm not too worried yet, i think we're just playing a better, more experienced side. KP's the worry for me, Mustard wasn't that bad, bell we know is a quality player after how he played against the Indians, Cook fought well, Shah was dissapointing and Collys another worry, he doesn't seem to be as consistent recently with the bat.

Would've been nice to seen Cook get a half-century.

That innings will totally kill his career strike-rate though.

Swann looks a talent. Bowled pretty well & his playing some nice shots now.

Of course, it's been winter here and also for most of the other teams.

ODIs in India ~ Tests against Srl ~ ODIs against NZ ~ Tests against India ~ CB Series Aus v Ind v Srl ~ Tests and ODIs in Pakistan ~ Tests and ODIs in West Indies

and that takes us through to early June 08. After that, there's a Top End series with Bangladesh in August, then the Champions Trophy in September and with that the next season rolls in;
~ Tests in India ~ Tests against NZ ~ Tests against SA ~ ODIs Aus v SA & NZ (tba) ~ Tests and ODIs in SA

That ends in April 09 and there's about a 2 month gap before the next T20 Championship and immediately after, the 09 Ashes. It pretty much keeps rolling on and on like that.

We are of course doing the graceful English thing and giving our delightful hosts a head start. It's just good manners.

Accompanied with compliments in the middle matches, and then give the hosts a happy ending in the latter stages too, eh ?
